Well for quite a number of months, I have been looking to crash something. I had a Belt CP that I no longer flew cause my other 450's were quite stable, way more stable than the Belt CP in the wind. So that Belt CP was just sitting there. I thought about selling it, but I did not think I'd get very much. I also had a foam plane I got on ebay for $60 and I flew the heck out of it most of last year and it was also past it's prime and things were just worn down on them. Well, I got this idea to let them die with their boots on. So enters "Project T-Bone". A heli pilot buddy of mine was to hover it over the runway and I was going to fly into it and maybe get a good crash on video. Well, it turned out WAY better than I had hoped for. This morning, we tried it out. First I flew downwind at it to increase the speed, but we went through till our batteries wore down and I was getting close but no hit. Then I decided I needed more time to line the plane up so I went for an upwind shot. On about the 3rd pass, I was able to line it up and PAYDIRT! An awesome hit with Belt CP completely slicing one wing off the foamie plane.

Word spread amongst friends and we ended up with 5 video cameras taping the impact including one video camera loaded on the airplane. One was focused on the airplane, another on the helicopter. I had my hatcam and another guy video'd from a wider prospective of the crash. I still will have some editing to do before I youtube the combinded video but I could not wait to make a post. Video of the airplane mounted camera is processing now and I'll post when it's updated.

Here are pictures of the Carnage:

Awesome! I'm loooking forward to the other video angles! I would be interested in the damage on both aircraft. Will you please post a list of damaged parts? I bet some hot glue can repair that severed wing on the foamie. Though it doesn't look like a clean break. It looks like the heli main blades shredded the foam wing . OK, it'll probably take alot of hot glue to repair the wing . It also appears that the Belt CP didn't suffer any catastrophic damage.

BeltCP damage was VERY minor.
I set it up so that zero throttle had zero pitch to mininmize how far it would move after impact. The grass was pretty soft.
Wood blades, mainshaft, spindle, flybar possibly tail shaft.
Foamie arf is TOAST. That wing was NOT getting put back together. It was sort of compartmentalized and it fractured in too many places. The tail section was cracked in the foam. Well, after the crash, I shot some videos having fun w/ the foamie. I pulled the good stuff out of the foamie (rx, motor, ESC). The servos were kinda junky. The Belt CP will find a good home. I will strip it and then pass on the rest of the parts to a deserving candidate.

This was LOTS of fun! One of the best hours spent at my field.

HEY, the video just finished processing on Youtube, ENJOY!

BTW, I will donate the Belt CP remains and the Esky CF blades (won't fit a trex) to anyone who is learning on the Belt CP and would like me to send the parts to them. PM me your "story" and I'll decide next week. I want this to go to someone who's really gonna use (and need) the parts and not just someone who has a Belt CP that they want to get flying again. I will strip some of the stuff off it like the Rx, gyro, ESC and the skids, I'll test the servos to see which have stripped and trash those but send any of the working ones. I don't think I have any other spare parts for the Belt CP. If I do, I'll send that.

Melnic, This is Danny-boy----the newest member of our mini-heli club. He got a Belt-CP last week off FleaBay. Just at the beginning stages of hovering a few inches off the ground w/ training gear. He's a funny bastard that got bit by the heli-bug. Please consider Danny-boy as a potential canidate.

I think it's a perfectly fine underwater camera. I just can't figure out how they grew so much grass for him to drive that car at the bottom of the pool...?
