ive finally finished my logo 500 so last night i put the first of 3 li-po's on to charge

and 2 an a half hours later the li-po was charged

i was charging off a car battery, but i always charge 2 3s packs at the same time for my atom and these charge in around 40 minutes,

so ive got a couple questions

people who are charging the same li-po with the same charger, how long are yours taking??

is it because of the larger packs the charger needs a proper high ampage power supply

The time it takes is directly related to the charge rate you chose, so what was it?

Yeah but 1C is not a fixed rate. It is whatever the charger thinks is 1C using the internal resistance of the packs. In short this is a guess and is never exact. You need to set the charge rate manually. I would use the predefined modes to make this easier.

time to get the manual out then

the resistance in each cell was all around 10ohms (if ohms is right)

i will have a look about changing the charge rate, so if i want to charge a 3700 mah pack at 1c i should set it to 3.7mah on the charger,

i would try them on my ultra duo and v-balance but i havent got the lead for the 6s packs

Yes 3.7A is the charge rate for 1C. (it has been a while but I believe you ...) Hold the top button until it shows ?battery type? Hold it again and it should go to charge rate. Then cycle through it until you get to 3.7A. Hold it again to "save" your settings. You can setup 2 different settings using the modes or you can use the PC connection software to setup 6 modes. That is handy and I would recommend doing it.

I charge my 3S 2600mah batteries at 10amps......ready to go in 12 minutes! I can fly all day with 2 packs....

Now only if i could find a charger willing to do that for my 6S 5000mah packs.....

no never had one puff(from charging),I have gotten ATLEAST 200-250 cycles out of every lipo I have owned, some in the 300-400 cycle range(yes they lose some pop,but are fine for sport flying,1 freak battery lasted 500 cycles )I currently have FMA batts that are 2 years old,OUTRAGE,and PerformancePlusRC.

except for break in,they are all charged at 2C minimum, been doing 2 and 3C since April of 07 with 0 issues

with the new chemistries of 30 and 40C and bursts of around 150 A,I dont see how people think charging a at 5 or 10A is going to damage anything,ESPECIALLY with todays dedicated lipo balance chargers

Wow, that's a lot of cycles. I've had a couple of outrage packs puff on the charger at less than 1 c. In general I like the outrage brand, but as of late, they don't seem as good. I'm thinking they got a bad batch.

I think a lot of mine is also discharge.up until this year I was not pushing batts at all.I was really concentrating on hovers,FF and upright backward flight, very low draw, easy flights, many in normal mode.and i follow the 80% rule.I am sure now that I am getting into advanced stuff my cycle life will drop.

I think discharge rates and temps do much more damage than charging.

If you have batts puffing with relatively low cycles on them at les than 1C charge rates, thats either bad cells,or a charger issue,I would think

I firmly believe charging is never the culprit when packs fail, it is hard discharges and other problems.

Yuep its usually over discharge....it only take 5-6 times discharging the pack below 15-20% to cause it to pre-maturely fail.

I get stressed when i see pilots over discharge packs....some guys at my field fly their Trex 500 every flight until low cut-off....I peak over at the chargers and its putting back 90%, and then they wonder why they only get 50 cycles....
