i am setting the head up on my n9 and was wondering does the washout arm have to be level at zero pitch

set everything up level at 0deg pitch.
That way you even pos. and neg. pitch

No the washout arms are NOT level at 0°, nor are the bell mixers on the blade grips.

It should look like this:

I'm using the hyperlevers on mine and they are relatively level however the bell mixers he is correct about. They will not be level at mid-stick...

Chuckie they are the SynergyRC metal washout arms.

Nigel Brown threw me a set a while back.
They may have been a limited edition, not sure.

They look like the metal bell crank arms that I got that were limited editions as well.

Back on track, nothing is level on the N9 at 0 pitch. You can bank on that.
