I have a Curtis ATG that works great, It is in normal mode not active. My question is, when I switch from one flight mode to another, Norm to ST-1, or ST-1 to St-2 there is about a 2 to 3 second lag for the engine rpm to pick up. Is this normal ? If not how do I set the ATG for a quicker responce ?

Yes it is normal. It is a safety situation. We have no way of knowing what head speeds a person might be switching from, as well as what type of other equipment they might be using. Meaning that for instance if you switched from say 1500 RPM to 2100 RPM between flight modes bad things could happen. If you were using a less than adequate gyro this head speed jump could cause the tail to kick quite violently. This kick could cause a serious problem for a lot of pilots, and could lead to a nasty crash or worse. For this reason we choose to have a delay pre-programed to address this potential issue.

I hope this helps.

Build it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.

I was gonna respond but the "Man" Brian beat me!
Mine does the same, I tend to like it.
Versus the "old" GV-1 instant rpm jump...

I like it too. I think it's a great feature also safty wise. Normaly only high end radios were able to create that delay. But the Atg has such a smoth transition. Regards Pete

Man, I thought my ATG V3 was programmed wrong or something. I was about to switch it out for a revmax if I couldn't figure out why it kept doing that. Good to know it's programmed that way.
