Stocking up for my Srimok and need some clarification.
1.Does the Spectrum 7100 RX pass whatever voltage it is fed (6-10) to the Cyclic servos and then regulate throttle and gyro/servo down to 5.2 v?
2. Does this mean I need a regulator between the 2s lipo flight pack to send 6V thru the RX and on to my cyclic servos?
3. Does this mean in order to run an unregulated 7.4v 2s lipo to the RX that I also need 7.4 volt compatible servos on cyclic?
4. Are there any 7.4v servos on the market yet besides the JR 8717HV or the Hitec HS-7940TH Ultra Speed Servo?
Are people running standard JR 8717 servos on 2s lipo 7.4 v unregulated lipo power supplies and if so for how long?
Thanks for your help (and no I'm not planning on spending 600$ for 3 servos anytime soon!)

I think the whole flight.

Me neither.

Dood, thanks for making me laugh! I gotta find out how safe it is to run JR8717's on 2s. What other servo's are designed to run 7.4v?

I know of people running some of the Futaba BLS servos on 7.4, as with the Align 610 servos. I hear Hitec has a new servo coming out that will work on 7.4V.

Not a lot about it online, but I've heard many reports about 8717 failure. They're not exactly bulletproof.

Personally, I still like Futaba 9252's. Those are really fast.

i've been using futaba bls451's unregulated and align 620's also unregulated.
both cheaper servos
haven't even seen a glitch.

I remember when sex was safe and Heli's where dangerous.

Oh Carp! I just sold my old Raptor 50 and just let the guy who bought it have the 9252's init! At least you knew what voltage to run it (4.8). I've been poking around the site, people are running everything on 2S. InoLabs, Align, Futaba, Jr... I really don't want to lose this Srimok to a burnt 67$ servo. I will probly hold out for the Hitec, they have a terrific rep in giant scale (i have them in my 100cc yak, most all my planks, and many of my heli's. Since the high torque 750 is allready here it shouldn't be long. Plus using my Hitec hs-20 programmer to level the swash just feels right...

Of course with the Hitec's there's the whole unfamiliar "waiting" thing again. There's the rub. Thank gosh Readyheli got the Srimok sooner than later.
I think u r smart to run the slower 620 on 2S since the high voltage on an allready super quick servo might do more damage.

the 9252's I've run have always been 6V regulated. They're pretty fast, and have more than enough torque for just about any application.

I think it's funny how all these guys think you need blazing fast servos and 200oz of torque.

If you swapped their servos with "old" servos from 2 years ago, I bet 99% of them couldnt feel the difference.

i dont do it for the speed nor the torque.
isn't it nice to have a receiver, servos and batts

rather than receiver, regulator, 5.1 step-down, servos, batts, and all the extra routing of wire necessary.

I remember when sex was safe and Heli's where dangerous.

I want to get rid of the regulator too, they can fail, its just about the voltage for me, not so much the performance.
