Can anyone give me an assist to get the v4 to connect with the USB.

I have tried most everything. Loaded the software as per manual, finally found the 3 different links in the start menu, clicked the standard USB connection, vstabi icon on desktop, opens fine, connect vbar main unit to comp. via USB and turn on tx/rx, no hardware recognition. I looked for the driver since it did not autoload and loaded it. At least as far as I know, and it get the red no connection box. No green box.

Also the strangest thing is going on with the ar7100r/vbar unit. When the power is switched off (using both the switch and/or extension/crg cable) the blue power light on the ar7100r stays lit and there is power. When you disconnect the battery then the power light goes off and no power passes to vbar. If you remove the rx wires and start with the rudder first and work your way done the vbar main unit, the rudder functions correctly ie... off switch off no power. When you attach any of the other rx wires ie...a/e/p the blue power light remains lit when the power switch is off and power is again supplied to the vbar main unit.

Please help

thanks.

Make sure you connect the V-Bar sensor to the main unit and make sure it's powered correctly otherwise the software will not recognize it.

check this post for the power light problem

hope this helps

vbar sensor connected to main unit. Not sure what you mean by powered correctly. I am using the fromaco 7.4v 5200mah, running 4x 8717 and 8900g, and the battery is freshly charged.

What Operating System are you using? I heard some people are having problem with 64-bit Windows Vista because of USB drivers.

If you are using Vista you will need to disable the device driver digital signature enforcement. It is very simple, just turn off computer and when rebooting press the F8 key until a boot menu pops up. Scroll down to the bottom and select "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" Then the V-bar software will work properly.

I finally got the thing loaded, the driver was jacked, fixed now. Still have the on/off problem. Interesting to note that if you pull the rudd from the regulated side the thing shuts off. You would thing that anything south of the rx would shut off since the rx is between the battery and the vbar. I have not built that harness as of yet, buy does it really cure the pro blem?

You can burn units up if you dont fix that harness since you virtually putting 8v back into the tail channel via the VBar...

I'll make that harness post haste. still don't really understand the problem, but I assume that it's because the soft switch does not completely shot off the power. Some form or power drain.

Thanks all.

You're not using a Mac are you? I don't think anyone has figured out how to get the USB from the V-bar to connect to a Mac.

In addition to making the harness. If you are using AUX2 on the RX to control bank switching make sure that you disconnect the red wire on the connector.

I have been running V-bar 4.0 on Mac OSX for some time now. A little bit modification on the driver side, and then it is working. Search for it here on RR and you will find my thread.

Erik, I read your post on the Mac, but your solution is quite complicated. For the meantime, I just boot my Macbook into Windows XP at the field which works fine. Hopefully in time Mikado will offer another software verison for OSX.

Same Problem - USB won't load correctly

I am running Vista 64 and yesterday a professional software engineer spent about 4 hours trying to get the driver to work so it will recongnize my unit. We tried all the suggestions in the FAQ at Vstabi inculding the F8 boot as well as the driver patches and eliminating the certification process for the driver. We (Alan) tried all these things and some others about 3 times each. In the end we tested the unit on his laptop and it works like a charm so I know the unit in fine.

Any specific help you could provide as to exactly what to do to get the USB driver to work would be greatly appreciated.

Has anyone posted the Vista 64 problem on the Mikado V-Stabi forum recently? Perhaps their FAQs and previous suggestions apply to an earlier software of the software (like 3.16) and are no longer valid for version 4.18?

By the way, running V-bar 4.18 on Windows XP is very easy.

Best fix for Vista 64!!

I finally cured the Vista 64 issue. Got a Netbook with Windows XP and everything works just fine the first time through. Small and easy enough to tIe to the field.
