what would be the best way to clean out the old grease?would it hurt it to soak in some alcohol?

I soak it in denatured alcohol, then blow it dry with air and then repack it with tt #6591 Diff Lube or Tri-flow Synthetic grease.

I spray mine out with brake clean and it dries fairly quickly. once dry I have soaked it in Autpo trnas fluid with great success and I have also done the synthetic grease too with great success
