Hi

I have a GV-1 governer and a 7ch JR 721 reciever on my Spectra.

Aux 1 is the pitch while Aux 2 is for the gyro adjustment.

The only spare channel I have available is the gear channel - this at the moment has the governers on/off connection wired to it.

How do I connect the GV-1 up so that I can switch headspeeds from the flight mode switch in N,ID1 and ID2?

It doesn`t look like It is possible to assign the gear switch to the flightmode switch from the tx menu as I was planning to do.

How is this going to be done? I`m using a JR DSX9 (9303)tx.

Any help would be appreciated.
The heli is soon to be reaasembled and the governer setup for use.

9 channel

Get a 9 channel receiver (stop limiting yourself) and plug the gv-1 speed selector to AUX4. Plug the gv-1 on/off to the gear channel, and naturally the throttle from the gv-1 is in channel 1 (throttle).

Aux2 will still be for the gyro gain and/or mode switch.

There is a good video by finless Bob on HF that shows how to do this with a DX7 and the GV1. It was pretty slick if I remember right. but the 9 channel works good too..

I almost forgot about that one. Do a search on the other forum for "Trex600 Nitro Pro Build Vids" (without quotes) and you'll find it. Maybe you can adapt to your setup.

I wish I had a 9 channel TX, life would be easier and I would have a 9 channel RX and do away with the Y leads...

Anyway so you can see what I have done here it is...

1 - Power Y Cable to VoltMagic and Jewel
2 - Throttle From GV1
3 - Aileron Servo
4 - Elevator Servo
5 - Rudder From Gyro
6 - Gear From Gyro
7 - Aux1 Servo (Pitch)
8 - Aux2 Y Cable to Switch and GV1

Number 8 Aux 2 - This is where I use the on/off from the GV1 with Aux2 set to Aux2 in the set up. I use this to set up the curves using the GV1 as a tach, and when that's done I change it to the other GV1 cable that allows the 3 speeds on the flight mode switch and change Aux2 in the set up to FMode...

Probably other ways but that works for me, I just hate Y leads but I have no choice...

Is there anything stopping me moving the Gyro gain on to the gear switch and use the ATV.This will free up AUX 2 for the governer.

As long as I can assign AUX2 to the flight mode switch.

I would have to have the governer off in normal mode and fly on curves.

I have got three 9 Channel recievers in my other helis - maybe if worst comes to worst I could strip one out..

No that's how I have mine...

Aux2 is the governor on all my helis and gear is always my gain that's why I keep it like that to avoid confusion...

I guess you have a gyro that requires using ATV not like the GY611?

Aux2 on a DX7 can be assigned to FMode switch...

Kevin

Using a JR770 on the Spectra - can use either the JR gyro menu or ATV`s.

All my other helis use the gyro menu.

Just checked as well and it looks like I can assign AUX2 to the FM switch.

Its just the not be able to completely switch off the governer on a separate switch thing then.

Correct but when running in you don't want the governor on, so wire it up so you are just using the on/off switch and you can use it to check your head speed and model your curve...

Then when you are ready swap plugs and use all 3 flight modes, you can still however set the GV1 value for normal mode low so that the governor does not work. So in effect normal mode becomes off...

Now that's exactly what I would do. If you have no need for a 9 chan RX in another bird, then pull it and use it where it's needed. In the long run, you will be much happier

Just checked all three birds - no spare channels on two of them and the other is a bit of a pain in the a*** to dismantle. That rules that out then.

Looks like for now I`ll use the one that I bought for the Spectra when I ordered the electronics even though its only 7 channel.

I`ll see how I get on when I swap the plugs around and have a play with the GV-1.

If no good then the credit card will have to come out again
