Hello

First time owner of a trex 500 GF and electric etc....

I have setup my heli as required by manual (pitch & throttle curves)

everything is plugged and operating in the correct manner.

Main rotor blades spin in the correct direction.

Only thing I havent done is spool it up.

I connect the battery to the ESC - throttle is at bottom stick - all I hear is beeping tones!

What should happen next?

I dont have a clue what to expect or do when it comes to spooling the trex 500 up.

any info would be helpful.

STOP... If you here beeping tones when your throttle is at bottom stick. your throttle servo may need to be reversed. Unplug your connecters to the motor and go thru the BEC setup again. It should go into setup mode when the throttle is at full position then listen to all the beeps and set each mode as required. Also dont use the govener mode because you could be chasing a tail wag.Voltage you select also it will depend on what servos you have. What radio, servos and gyro are you using ? Is this your first heli or just your first electric?

I ment to say ESC setup. Do you have the manual? If you did not go thru the set up mode there is a default setting for the ESC Should be ok.But if your throttle servo is reversed and it went into set up mode It may have changed from the default setting to what ever you had the stick positioned at. I dont have the book with me to go thru the set up. But when you go to set up mode it should be something like 1 peep is the timming 2 beeps is soft start,or quick start 3 beeps gov. on or off and so on.

Is it the Align ESC/BEC?

Put your throttle to full and turn on the TX.
Power up the heli.
It will tone a few times to show it's in program mode then it will play a tune up and down to verify.
Now it will tone once, five times.During those five times put the throttle to lowest for no brake,to middle for soft brake and highest for hard brake. For a heli,I suggest no brake.

After the five tones it will recognize where the throttle is and pay the tune again to verify.

Now it will tone twice, five times.During these tones, set the throttle to low for low timing, middle for mid timing and high for high.I suggest the middle.

After the five double tones, plays the tune to verify.

Now it will triple tone five times.Same deal.Low throttle for highest battery protection cut off.Middle for middle and Highest for no protection.
I suggest middle.

Four tones, five times...low throttle for plank.Middle for heli soft start.High for heli soft start govenor.Self explanitory.

Five tones, five times.Low for standard throttle response speed.Middle for medium and high for fast resoponse.

After all this it will play its tune to verify for the last time.Unplug it.Turn off the TX.Power on the TX at lowest throttle.Power up the heli and try it out.
I don't have a card and have never used one.

I literally never use the word literally right.

Are these the tones?

One tone=no brake

Double tone=mid timing

one tone=highest battery protection/cutoff

double tone=heli soft start

three tones=fast throttle response

It is just repeating out loud the ESC set up.

Thanks Mckrakin. I am at work and kind of limited to helping out. IF it goes into set up mode when the stick is all the way down then you have to go into the radio and reverse the throttle servo. Thats why I recommend disconnecting the motor wires.

Any ESC's that I have used, Futaba radio's need to have throttle channel reversed. JR / Spectrum radios do not need to be reversed on the throttle channel. At least thats the way my radios work!

The Align ESC goes through that every time it's powered up:

It should not do that ?? it only goes into set up mode when you hold the throttle up not when you turn it on to go flying ???

Ray i have replied to your email bud let me know how you get on, have fun its a good little heli, also run the throttle curves as a flat line in idle up 1 & 2. Mine are about 80 80 80 80 80 for idle 1 & 100 100 100 100 100 for idle 2 this will stop the motor from hunting as you change the throttle & pitch when flying, hope that makes sense.
