I am looking to get a Nimh Battery for my SDX RX.I know a Lipo is a better choice however I want to go this route first and may switch over next year.

Is this 3000 mAh 4.8 volt Nimh Battery to big for an SDX. How many flights do you think I could get out of it.

What do you think would be the perfect size?

Thanks for the help.

I have a 3000mAh sub-c pack on my SDX, and it works just fine. I fly about 4 times before I charge it again.

NoBS Batteries 1950ma Sanyo 4/5FAUP (about 3oz less than a subC pack). Depending on your servo selection, you should be able to do 3 flights on a charge.

Proofread carefully to see if you any words out.

I have a sub C 2800ma/h NMH fitted to my EVO 50 HPM and get 6 to 7 tanks out on a typical afternoon's flying. After the days flying the TRITON charger puts back between 900 and 1300ma/h into battery pack. It works for me.

Thanks guys for the info

About how long does it take to charge a 2800-3000 mah pack after flying for 3-4 flights? I realize there are a lot of factors. It takes about 45 minutes to charge my Lipos. Would this be about the same?

Probably around 30-45 minutes, depending on how many amps you charge with.

I still prefer NiMH and NIcads, that Lipol scares me, i am not ready to be homeless, probably until they start selling Li ion like those in mobile phones then i would be confident enough to keep one in the house.

My Fromeco battery for my Freya is a LiIon battery. I still never leave it unattended while charging though.

jdk,

Given your geography, how cold a temp do you intend to fly in? NiMH's lose a marked amount of capacity when the temps get down to or below 50D F. Lithiums do as well, but I notice it less with 5 ah on board.
