I think the concept is the kind of person running the large pitch ranges will also want to be running the more advanced settings anyways. You fellas have to remember unlike align head you do not have to run crazy pitch numbers to get the Outrage to move. I only run +-7 cyclic on my 550 and it is plenty quick enough (there is vid proof of it somewhere :P ).

agreed i think im running 7.5degrees cyclic, however you still need 13 degrees of pitch to get a real nice snap and crack type feeling.

Actually i bet you dont. We had the same thing come up on the G5. The align heads have a non-linear collective response due to the head geometry so they feel quicker. The Outrage heads are linear which makes them feel slower but you notice they don't load up the head like an align. Try using an S curve on the pitch that seems to do the trick for most people on the G5 (i personally like the feel of the linear curve), give it a try and see if that make its feel more to what you are use to.

head binding

so i have to run advanced head design and turn down my throws until there is no binding at all. does that not slow down the cyclic. i know in medium head i turn down the throws so there is no binding and this heli flips very slow.

DO not setup an outrage head like an align head, you DO NOT just max out the throws. Run near the recommended cylic pitch throws. Even with +-7 cyclic the 550/50 head is very quick.

Steven is running roughly 12.5 pitch and 7.5 cyclic, the other contributing factor is blades and paddles, it also comes down to collective management, he ran a cyclic ring on his 9Z, and DX7 for years and now doesn't use one on his 9303 as he doesn't get into the corners because he can manage his cyclic.

Fastsrt...any update on your crash? What was the final decision on what caused the crash? Can't see that a locked or freewheeling oneway would cause the damage that happened on your Velocity...Did Outrage do anything to help?

Yep it's gonna be back in the air soon. The Outrage guys are great. The only thing i found was a broken pitch link that broke in the threads a little below the step down. It's not bent at all, see the pic. Everything else checked out fine. It was an odd thing and this is the first time it's happened to me. As soon as they get the parts in stock that i need they will be shipping them out. They have other big name heli manufacturers beat on customer support for sure.

had a link break

I had a plastic link break during assembly, but that is a strange one. I would call it defective myself too. It's not the only possibility, but the most likely one anyway.
Is there ANY bind at max cyclic/collective angles?

This was odd and Outrage agreed to the same. There is no binding, i have the pitch at +/-10 and cyclic at 7-8. Only at 60-65% in the swash mix. I have a cyclic ring on the tx and wasn't on it at all. Hopefully it is a first and last.
It will be back together this weekend. The parts are on the USPS truck and should be here by saturday. I'll be up late getting it done, can't stand to see it sit broke.

Just a little update, the Velocity is back together and in the air again today. I got all my parts from the little white van yesterday and it was the project for the night. It got 2 flights in to make sure it was all back good and is now ready to go. It'll get quite a few tanks thru it next weekend.

Thanks Outrage & Helidirect for the super fast support!

Curious if Helidirect cut you a deal on the parts for your crash?

Is there any word on when they will fix the one way bearing issue or is it simply a replacement for a 550?

I am itching to buy a velocity but wondering if I should wait until the bugs are worked out with the one way bearings and binding issues...

Any other issues for that should be mentioned?

"what comes up must come down"....softly of course

Issues

I think you can be fairly certain that the known large scale issues have been eliminated and there is no need for concern. If you pick up a kit from an individual, I would make sure it has the updated one-way, which is easy to identify. Outrage knocked this one out of the park as far as fixing the problems that came up.

What binding issue????
^^^ +1

Not sure what binding issues you are referring to. Any heli can be made to bind in the extreme corners, so what exactly are you talking about.

one-way

The new one-way has individual equally spaced rollers. The old one has rollers in groups of 4.
