I use that seen/flown 11 never 12. Maybe then you can tell me if that is even better than 12.
I'm using a Scorpion HK-2221-6 4400kV motor on my 450 so a 12T pinion pulls around 55A. I don't think I can go 13.

kontronics escs are the business... but suspect that 85% is still too high for it...see what headspeed you get at 75-80% governed and adjust the pinion to that.
There's a couple of us with jive HV controllers here and we can't detect a headspeed change with a skytach on our big electics within our abilities to chuck them around.

...personally think scorpion motors are pants...

Scorpion motor + Kontronik ESC really seems to be the best combination for an electric heli. Now if only the flight times were a little longer than 4 minutes.

Maybe I could mount a Jewel generator to my electric helicopter to give it a longer flight time?

hehe

my Roxxster has a 10S with a Jive HV and Scorp. I dare say its one of the fastest ships on 10s you can make. The pitch pumps where so agressive it ripped the radio tray off the model to where I had to auto in because the batteries fell 50 feet.

Leave a large grin on your face.

I got the curtis autos, tick tocks, and also temp readings after landing on my Spectra and 1005. When I get a chance I'll upload them to you tube, going out tonight so it may be tomorrow sometime.

good.

Raja,

Sometimes I wonder if you wake up at the flying field for how much you fly. I literally have down 2 gallons of fuel this year.

Raja do you have a job right now I thought you where laid off? This would explain the free time..

I run my Align 450 on a 11 T pinion also with the Align esc at 100% all the time with no problems. I never notice alot of bogging with the 11 tooth and get 7 to 8 minutes. But I have never tried a 12 or 13 tooth ,you really think it's better? I thought it would pull more amps and get shorter run times because of the steeper gearing.

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

No John, THIS is COLD!

Raja do you have a job right now I thought you where laid off?
I worked for corporate America in Information Systems for 20 years, my last job for 13 years at the same company thought I'd retire from there. "Through no fault of my own" they outsourced all of us in the department to IBM and let us go earlier this year.

I decided now is a good time for change, and have made my hobby my job as I want to do something I love and enjoy.

Now I'm building some electronics, doing aerial photography, and work on building, setting up and tuning people's helicopters as a job for pay whenever the opportunity arises. I can go fly whenever I want, but believe it or not I don't fly any more than I used to, and most of the times I go in evenings "after work" like I always did.

In any case, you asked for the custis youngblood autos and some tick-toc videos so I did it for you. I also did two movies one for the Spectra-g and one for the 1005 showing that there is no heat "soak" or rise after I land like I said before, but it caused alot of controversy and some people didn't believe it, so I'm showing what I see on my machines.

Whenever you get your heli up and running again, you can take your video and show us the heat rise on yours. Remember to set your emissivity level to the default of 0.95 if you want to compare temps on the same playing field, as that is what my temp meter is set at.

The videos are uploading now. I'll post links once they are there...

Glasses

I bought those glasses at IRCHA this year. They are big and they are not the prettiest, but my friend said who cares when you fly people look at your back not your face!

In any case they are Zurich's, said to be the best in the industry, medium rose and they fit right over my perscription glasses. You can get them as standard size if you wear contacts or don't need corrective lenses.

They did stop me from squinting all the time especially when its overcast. I feel more relaxed now flying and they also improve the vision making things sharper and allowing me to keep a better eye on the heli orientation when coming in tail towards me inverted as you know the first time you do those you want to see the thing 120% due to fear of screwing it up on the way down and falling out of the sky...! Before the glasses my eyes would water alot looking up in certain conditions (overcast not blue sky) and I would only feel comfortable flying low against the tree background instead of the hazy sky.

Thanks guys, glad you liked them!

k

Raja,

I think you are pointing it in the same direction as my temp gun. Also consider that I used a Fluke at work that was supposed to be high end and found my blue flashpoint had as much as 12% off temps in temps compared to the other with the same emissivity. Even if I set my emissivity to the same it might not 'duplicate' to the T of your temp gun. you can send me yours as well and I can do a video as well.

It seems hot though at 260. wow. I enjoyed the auto.

The comment of you laid off is just for fun. No hard feelings.

Got my Spectra back in the air today only 1 flight before a fuel tank leak finished the day (didn't have tools with me)

Anyway landed and shot temperature immediately, 213 degrees initial and no increase, it started cooling immediately. Took reading in same spot as Cody and Raja and it's a 3D Max motor...

Yes it was only the first flight after a rebuild, but I will try again later, just thought I would let you know my result.
