Anyone know if the mini v-bar can now work on larger helis ?
According to the info on the ReadyHeli webpage it is good for any small indoor electric heli. I would guess they would like the standard VBar used on larger heli's...

My Mini Titan is loving my MiniBar too!!! I've always admired the smooth and predictable manners of the Titan and the VBar is working fantastic.

True - The MiniBar was designed around mini heli's that can seriously benefit from the light weight and simplicity of the mini unit.

True - There's nothing preventing you from using the MiniBar on larger heli's (not even the power bus!!!...fact), you're just exceeding the design focus for the unit and you are choosing to do this at your own risk, as small as the risk may be... Just like running some Futaba servos at 6v. Some take pride in crossing the line...

On this?

Radix 710SB's

If so, you have some serious "stones" or contempt for your bird...

Wit the size of the unit and the express direction from Mikado not to do it, I would at least try it on a beater Nitro before the hard to replace Avant .......Ron

I seem to remember a few years ago Mikado saying the exact same thing about the silver sensor V-bar. Do you remember that too?

Sounds to me more like Mikado is offering up more of a CYA kind of warning.

The concern from Mikado is that the size of the unit is so small it will not dampen like the larger units. They don't even wnat them used on E helis over 500mm blades so I think a .90 sized nitro is a little too big. If you want to try it, be careful.......Ron

Yeah and the silver sensor VBAR was updated to a faster processor (16 bit vs. 8 bit) to combat that problem. They work on some machines but that is not the case for all of them........Ron

I planned to mount the mini vbar on the rear gyro plate. Wire management is not an issue for me. Also, I planned to soft mount it with some gyro tape. Think that will work?

I could not tell you for sure...it may but I do know that the regular VBAR with the black sensor will work. Like I said, it would be fun to try but not on a $3000 bird.........Ron

I dont recall Mikado stating anything about the power bus of the mini Vbar as well.
Im not sure if it will fry on 8V or not, and whether the power bus can handle the amps of the 8717s

As for your vibration isolation mounting...

If you decide to use Zeal tape, you have to wrap a piece of velcro around the whole unit and then put some Zeal tape on the top of the unit as well as on the bottom in a Zeal tape sandwich sort of configuration. Otherwise, the Zeal tape is so springy that it allows the V-bar to vibrate too much. At least this was my experience with the full sized unit.

If you're going to try the mini-V-bar on a nitro, might want to try some standard gyro tape and just adjust the sensor deadband.
