I knew that was your answer. I just wanted to watch you embarrass yourself again with more Partisan hackery. Thank goodness no Democrats supported the wars, or continue to support them. Thank goodness none of the Democrats voted for the Bush stimulus plans. Thank goodness no Democrats voted for the bank bailouts. Thank God no Democrats voted for any Bush proposals!

You sir, are truly unbelievable!
WTF are you talking about? I'm not embarrassed in the least and I have to ask, did Ron steal your account because you are sounding more and more like him daily.

I said if the Reps could have held on for 8 months more then they could have taken credit for any recovery that was made.

Calm down, step away from the keyboard a little while. It'll be OK. Really.....

Repo man's got all day and all night! Lets go get a drink!

but the VAST amount of data points to Obama NOT being Pro 2nd.
I'm not going to dispute that and I never said he is pro 2nd. My response was a rebuttal to this statement: What if I were to tell you that Obama Justice Department is doing everything it can to limit your Second Amendment rights to keep and bear arms.

If they were doing everything they can then the credit card bill would not have been passed. Now if it had said: What if I were to tell you that Obama Justice Department is doing everything it can to limit the sale of any type of firearm that requires shooter to pull trigger etc. etc. etc. that would have been a more accurate statement and I wouldn't have commented.

Always a pleasure to read a post in this section that has some thought behind it. Keep it up Ron.

You are correct that they are not doing EVERYTHING they can, but it is very clear that the only reason this passed was to get the Credit Card reform passed. I seriously doubt it would have been signed on its own.

Politics is ALL about this kind of give and take (And I think it is BS); Min wage increases should not be tied into defense spending, the right to carry in Federal Parks should not be tied into CC reform.

I think that the Obama administration *is* doing everything it can to limit 2nd amendment right *that they can get away with politically*.

I think that the "Get away with" is an understood statement.

But I do see your point, they could have stopped this by voting against it. They did start fighting it, but could not get it into committee to have this amendment stripped and still make the Labor Day Holiday that Obama wanted.

So in the end Obama signed it... Some will claim that Obama is Pro 2nd due to it, but his history shows that is not the case.

The only reason that the AWB was let go of was the letters sent from law makers to Holder telling him to drop it. Obama left Holder hanging on that one.

But from Obama's meeting in Mexico April 16, 2009:
PRESIDENT OBAMA: And I continue to believe that we can respect and honor the Second Amendment rights in our Constitution, the rights of sportsmen and hunters and homeowners who want to keep their families safe to lawfully bear arms, while dealing with assault weapons that, as we now know, here in Mexico, are helping to fuel extraordinary violence -- violence in our own country, as well.

Now, having said that, I think none of us are under any illusion that reinstating that ban would be easy. And so, what we've focused on is how we can improve our enforcement of existing laws, because even under current law, trafficking illegal firearms, sending them across a border, is illegal. That's something that we can stop.

And so our focus is to work with Secretary Napolitano, Attorney General Holder, our entire Homeland Security team, ATF, border security, everybody who is involved in this, to coordinate with our counterparts in Mexico to significantly ramp up our enforcement of existing laws. And in fact, I've asked Eric Holder to do a complete review of how our enforcement operations are currently working and make sure that we're cutting down on the loopholes that are resulting in some of these drug trafficking problems.

The last point I would make is that there are going to be some opportunities where I think we can build some strong consensus. I'll give you one example, and that is the issue of gun tracing. The tracing of bullets and ballistics and gun information that have been used in major crimes -- that's information that we are still not giving to law enforcement, as a consequence of provisions that have been blocked in the United States Congress, and those are the areas where I think that we can make some significant progress early.

That doesn’t mean that we're steering away from the issue of the assault guns ban, but it does mean that we want to act with urgency, promptly, now. And I think we can make significant progress.
So right there he pretty much said he wants the AWB, but knows he can't get it right now.

The funny thing is that they somehow think that making something illegal here in the US will make it less likely to be available in Mexico where they are already illegal.

That model does not seem to work well when it comes to illegal drugs... They are illegal in Mexico, they are illegal in the US, they are illegal to transport across the border, yet they are all over the place here.

Laws against ownership are only going to hurt legal citizens, not criminals....
