Hi,

Hopefully someone can shed some light on this problem, I have been trying to sort it for around 2 months now -

A while back, by 600N started exhibiting a high frequency vibration, which results in the gyro (spartan) having fun controlling the rudder, resulting in wagging and a constant tail rotate to the right, the heli is still flyable, just a pain, and the boom support pipes keep coming loose (yes, they are glued as well as screwed in)

The heli is almost two years old, and has not had this problem before, and was built from new.

I have had no crashes on this heli, but have tried the following:

* Replace stock tail arms with metal upgrade, replaced tail blades with new align tail blades.
* Replace main shaft
* Replace plastic fan with align metal fan.
* Check bearing in engine.
* Replace dampners on feathering shaft.

* Checked tracking, tracking is fine, rotor head is balanced.
* Engine / clutch / fan alignment check and checked again and all ok
* Flybar lengths fine, no slop or play on paddles either.
* Tail belt checked no problems
* All gears checked - no missing teeth or warping
* Gyro sponge mount and metal plate replaced.

I've kind of run out of things to replace that I can think of, that will cause this vibration - it just appeared one day, and caused a tail support boom to come loose.

Several friends who also have 600Ns have had a look, but we are totally out of suggestions.

I am tempted to fit a tail boom brace, but this will just mask the problem.

Has anyone else seem this / knows how to fix it / has a good suggestion ?

Thanks for any help

Andy

have u considered a worn out rudder servo?

curtis said that a typical rudder servo will last about 100 flights or so. even less if u dont follow the voltage spec ie. running 6v on a 4.8 servo.

Is your tail fin blurred? I wonder if it is a bad bearing some where that rotates at high speed? Tail, torque tube, clutch stack?

Hello there. I have the same gyro on my 600n. Just had the same problem. The gyro had went back to default. I must have triggered it by some start up sequence. Anyway you need to reprogram your endpoints and make sure you have the correct servo setup on your spartan. Dont reprogram with the USB use the way in the manual. If you have any other questions let me know. :-)

Cheers

PS Is this belt driven or torque tube?

Check your dampners but first make sure your blade grip spindle bolts are tight. I just had a bad vibration problem and it turned out that my spindle bolts had come loose.

Hi,

It is a belt driven 600N.

Will check those spindle bolts & gyro then off down to the field while the weather holds to check out the results.

I'll see if anyone at the field has a spare tail gyro I can quickly try out too.

Thanks

Andy

You can get more than 100 flights out of a tail servo...most of us don't fly like Curtis. I have one with a couple hundred flights on it and have had no problems.
