Bundian rrVeteran Fort Lauderdale, FL USA | Hello Runryders!I got a question if anyone has any experience with engine warranty with OS.I got this engine in march brand new, it was running extremely great, all the sudden last weekend it lost compression. ![]() Friend of mine took a look at it, it has scratches on the cylinder head on the piston and at the crank case, i never took one of tese apart, however I've worked a lot on motorcycle engines the the only time I saw a scratch on the crank case on a bike engine, when the bearing extremely bad on the crankshaft... My question is based on your experience is this engine likely to be fixed under the warranty? ![]() Or should I start saving up for a new engine? ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() rrElite Veteran Chicagoland area | OS has been rejecting every warranty claim I personally know that has been sent in over the past year. It use to be that OS would take care of engines within the warranty period, but they have started turning away perfectly legitimate claims of late.Good luck.Tyler

![]() rrElite Veteran Chicagoland area | Here is my prediction:You call Hobby Services. They say, "sure send it in with receipt". You spend money on shipping and insurance. They receive the engine and drag their feet to service it. You call two weeks later to check up on it. They say give them another week. They call you and say the engine is shot but they won't fix it. You stand your ground and insist it is under warranty. They will say you ran it lean. You will say it ran great and lost compression for no reason. They will offer to give you 50% off of suggested retail, which is like $599. You say no thanks, I'll buy YS. They will say we can ship your engine back after you pay a $20 inspection/service fee PLUS shipping. You decide if you will let them keep it or choke up the money so you can order the parts to fix it yourself.I can't wait to see how accurate I am!!

wthford rrVeteran Monticello, Illinois | I got mine covered recently. It was "iffy" whether they would or not. There was no real smoking gun, so they covered it. They said something to the effect of "we can't really find any defect that would have caused this, but we're covering it this time.Send it in, plead your case well, and good luck. How can I soar with the Eagles when I work with turkeys??

EASYKILL rrApprentice Sonora,Ca - US | They will tell you the bearing failed due to corrosion wich convientely isn't covered, pieces of the bearing caused the scratches on the sleeve/piston. They will say it is because you didn't use after run oil. Ask me how I know this...Hello, my name is Tony and I'm a heli addict...

AltecLansing rrElite Veteran North Carolina | I had an engine I sent in under warranty. I said it seemed to not have power any more. They rebuilt it under warranty and even said there was some rust on the rear bearing. Maybe they have changed now, but I did get good service on the engine.Man, I miss the eighties.

Bundian rrVeteran Fort Lauderdale, FL USA | So couple of days passed by, I gave them a call this morning, and a lady just told me that they replaced the engine since it was a factory defect ( the piston sleeve was coming out she said) and she gave me a tracking number for the new engine.
All hail OS Customer Service!
