I have just bought an Avro kit and intend to set it up for F3C type flying.
Has anyone any feedback on the YS91SR3C? I assume this would be better than the 91SR?

I would like to get some feedback on this new YS motor also. I have already ordered the #995 pipe for a YS SR but if the #995 will work with the SR3C I will pick one up and give it a try. Please post any findings.

I talked to a retailer in Hong Kong and they stated that the #995 will work with the 91SR3C great. They told me that the motor is designed for F3C. I am thinking of buying it and giving it a try. I am sure being a YS it will run great. More to follow.

Kool Jason. One of my engines is getting on about 4 years old now and will probably need replacing next season. I may be replacing it with an electric motor, though

I have already ordered my SR3C, and will probably get the 995 unless I hear to the contrary.

I am going to order mine today. From what I was told the #995 pipe should work great.

Erich,

Electric would be interesting set-up. I plan on staying glow until I can't afford the fuel anymore! Once the heli get into a Fuse clean-up won't be that bad.

I will post some pics when I get the motor.

I am not sure what the big differance is yet. The head is bigger for better cooling I think. It looks that way in the pictures. Porting I am not sure about. I don't know if all motors are tuned by Rüdiger Feil, but there are some listings showing tuned versions. Again I am not sure, still searching for more information. More to follow.....

Runs smoother with less vibrations, same power as an SR.
But has larger heatsink for better cooling.

I've been told the has different stroke length causing it to rev higher and therefore run more smoothly for FAI ???? Does this make sense?

haq0901,

No worries, I will not forget about it. I will post my initial observations of the motor when I get it. I am still a little off from finishing the helicopter but trying to buy as much as the wife (chief financial officer) will let me I can never hide the bills, so it is just easier to negotiate!

I fly mild 3D, but do not like it much. This helicopter will be strictly set-up for precision. I really appreciate the skill that goes into flying AMA classes and FAI. The machines are works of art and engineering marvels and do not forget to mention the hard work that the pilots are putting in to make it look easy! If I was not going to give AMA class a try i would have built a scale ship. 3D is fun to watch and I can appreciate the skill involved with it, but watching FAI really sparks my interest, can't wait to give it a try. Take care.

Very impressed with keimod so far. Already have the tracking number for the motor and it should be here by the middle to end of next week. I should be able to get started building the Caliber the end of next week if everything works out.

995 is around $130 at Ishiimokei, Kei, although they have reduced some prices, do tend to be quite expensive.

I actually order the #995 and clutch adapter from RC champ advisor in Japan. I paid $349.99 for the motor and thought that was pretty good, I do agree that some of the prices are high. I have never ordered anything from Ishiimokei yet. I have been looking for a staysee fuselage to put on the helicopter at a later date. I think Ishiimokei might have it in stock.

Ishiimokei are very good, so are Champ, Cyberheli and RC Japan too. All very reliable but there is definitely a difference in price. I paid $350 plus $20 shipping for motor.

Motor has arrived. Super fast shipping from Hong Kong, five days total. Sorry my pictures are not the best but the motor looks like any other SR except the head is bigger. Minimal casting flash and typical YS quality. Bearings feel very smooth. The proof will be when I get it in the air. More to follow...
