I definately know what you guys are talking about. The franchise hobby stores are horrible.... no wait I mean a joke. Hobbytown is basically a Toys r'us, all they are lacking is Jeffery the Girraffe. I dont know how many times I've been in there and heard some of the nonsense they force feed into people who dont know any better. I've finally sworn to myself to not do anymore business in there because of their blatant arogance. I just drive from Gainesville to Orlando to go to a real hobby shop, Graves R/C always has what I need. Including Enya #3 plugs

I just wish we had a hobby shop I could rant about. Our closest thing sells model trains and wooden puzzles.

pure jealousy by the hobby shop worker

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

WoW!
This subject has made me laugh and gawk at the awe full service and support your local hobby shops provide.

IM SORRY! (because my hobby shop is pretty good in comparison)

Now I appreciate my local hobby shop all the more. I do try and support them when possible, but like mentioned before some online deals just are hard to beat, and shipped right to your door. I loved the tooth comment.. that made me laugh!
Our hobby shop has a few of those employees, but all are trying to be help full.

I am surprised at the lack of good hobby stores in some places. A while back I was in St. Louis for some training and visited alot of the local hobby stores. Some I was impressed with, others I wasn't. I even got to attend a local swap meet, I was excited as this was the greater St.Louis area, Thinking I was gonna be blown away, I couldn't believe the lack of people!

Here in AK we have had bigger swap meets than what I attended. I know this is a one time look and probably not normal, but jeez I was disappointed.

Not really EricF... not if you need something right away. The famous response i always get is.. "We can special order it for you and we will call you when it arrives." Gee Wiz that is some awsome customer service. If i wanted that i'll just get on the computer and order it myself. You can make due with Hobbytown USA, buy your gonna be waiting on them. I just usually make a day of it when i travel to Graves R.C. cuz i usually spend two hours just looking at all the stuff they have, But back to the point, a sucessful hobby shop hasnt existed here in Gainesville for a long time. Hey but if you guys like teddy bears... Hobbytown has a jam up bear stuffing station where you can create your own teddy bear yeeeeaaaahhhhhh

"We can special order it for you and we will call you when it arrives."
That's the same thing I hear from my HT. Truth is though, if they cannot get it from Horizon Hobby they can't get it for me. I was talking to them about my Hirobo Huey and they said of course, "let us order it than you will not have to pay shipping." Guess what? They couldn't get it. I ended up ordering through Heliproz.

So I'm not the only one. I remember 20 years ago HT used to be good. In fact at one time they had 3 HT's here in Lincoln and they were all busy. Damn I wish there was more heli business here, I'd consider opening my own store.

In July 2009 I desperately needed fuel and went to Hobbytown. I asked why it was so expensive because it's sold for $30 per gallon at other stores. He told me the high price is due to the Olympics. LOL

All I can get is fuel and glow plugs at the lhs's in my area. I don't talk to anyone, I don't ask questions, I just get my fuel and go. The fact that I am plopping gallons of fuel on the counter should be indicator enough that I have some sort of clue and do not want to be BS'd.

Hey OP!

a$$hole says, all 3d is is floppin it around in the air and when you are done you land. i said it takes years to master 3d, he says, there is no control in 3d
Yeah thats where you should have stopped, handed him the sim TX and said ok then show me some floppin there Mr. superstar.

What you should have said is: "The customer is always right, furthermore you are losing a customer with your piss poor condescending attitude, please start acting in a professional manner, oh and where is your manager there donald trump?"

This is RC helis, sorry no Nobel Physics Prize for this one chief!

I LOVE messing with folks that somehow get a big head over this crap, hell any crap. Makes live worth livin, try it yourself I promise you may like it.

Here's some of the big boys, no real reason to pick them besides they are certainly apex achievers.

Galileo

Newton

Einstein

And even if these folks were still around, if they were big headed jerks you can always find someone more accomplished.

Here's a good one to use for someone so fueled by Hubris they cant fit a baseball cap on:

1. Whats your last name? <e.g. McLovin>

2. Ok so Galileo, Newton, Einstein, and... McLovin!

3. Which one of these things is not like the other? Which one of these things just don't belong. Make sure to sing it so you can really make em feel dumb.

OK there Hobby Shop cowboy, tell me again why you are so smart/bad ass?

Thought so...

I worked at Bell Labs in the 90's Ran into folks with 2-3 patents on their office wall (no not for Slap Chops or Can Openers, more like Optical Networking) with the most humble, professional attitudes I have ever seen.

Even met This Guy! while getting a cup of coffee, he was cool as all hell. He's the co-creator of UNIX by the way, and created the C programming language, to which we BOTH still use (C++, C#, object oriented programming languages) today.

I am just a run of the mill engineer/manager but what I learned there stuck with me in regards to how you act when you are truly accomplished.

RC Helicopters?
Serious Business!
