I am having a terrible problem with keeping my stock muffler on my new raptor. Is there any tricks you guys have or a new muffler that works better. I was flying it today and the muffler turned and melted a hole through my landing gear.

Sounds like it may be a bit lean if its getting that hot? But anyway take out any gaskets get it hot and then tighten the bolts. Got that info from someone on here myself and it did the trick.

Yep, get rid of the gaskets.
Clean the bolts and install them.
Warm up the heli.
Snug the bolts.

If the mounting surfaces are true it will stay put and not leak.

The bolts have a bit of "springyness" to them, if they have been over torqued they may loose that so a new set of muffler bolts and split lock washers won't hurt either.

If this is the short stock muffler that has a screw through it, throw it in your fishing box for a weight. You dont need a high dollar muffler, just get a one piece maverikk muffler. Get some rtv high temp copper silicone from walmart, put a even amount around the edge of the muffler to make a gasket. Put a little on the muffler bolt threads and tighten them down and forget about it. Mine always stay on until I take them off.

YOu can:
1) Tighten when hot.
2) Take apart and clean then use JB Weld to set it in place.
3) Add a set screw in from the side (I used to have to do that to my OS mufflers)
4) Get another muff:

throw that stock 3 piece muffler as far as you can.hard to believe that thunder tiger would include this crappy muffler with their awesome heli.after several jb weld sessions and a fab shop welding i bought a one piece.the fab shop job did hold, but it didn't take long for the bottom manifold bolt to strip out(my luck).now since installing the one piece i havent had any more problems,no bolt stripping-tightening,or engine suddenly going dangerously lean.

Regular old lock (split) washers work wonders. If the pipe is threaded, put them under the head of the bolt. If your using nuts, put the lock washer under the nut.

So what pipe do I have I bought it with this one? Seems great now that I removed the gaskets I had to trim it down for the throttle arm to pass but its worked fine since the re-bolt on.
