I love racing but I think F-1 is too boring for me. Not enough passing. Great cars and great drivers but just too boring for me.

To win 6 out of 7 races is very good! That is difficult for anyone, anywhere....

i have to laugh when i see comments from the USA about boring racing. the country that calls going round in circles racing. please don't take that as a personal attack at you, i see that comment all the time and i wonder what exactly these people call racing?

bikes, rally?

F1, boring, we'll sometimes maybe. However, I haven't missed a race since 1992. The abailties of ALL the drivers is just increadible and they all have my greatest admiration. The effort the teams go to is simply awe inspiring and then there's the technology
I must add, that since the BBC reacquired the broadcast rights, the F1 show rocks and no adverts so I can watch it live. The new presenter lineup is just great, Jake Humphrey along with DC and Eddy Jordan makes for an interesting and enjoyable dialog with great input from both a team owner's and driver's perspective. It's never been so good.
I am so pleased that Jenson is finally succeeding after many years of endurance.

yug, it's nice to see jenson doing well yes. i'm sure the they could give him the crown now and it would be deserved, brawn caught everyone napping.

as for the commentator line up, i have to disagree, jake is completely inept and out of his league. i'm not a fan of eddie jordan either to be fair. however i must say david coulthard is an exceptional member of the crew and gives us an insight we have not had before while watching. it's a shame he never really had a good car under him in all his years and when he did have a good car team orders dictated he let his team mate past. if he was still with redbull right now i'd have fancied him to be right up there.

cheers

absolutely but I have to disagree with you on Jake, who brings a certain youthfull freshness to the proceedings while Eddy has allways been a refreshing oik to an otherwisely establishmentaraliasimistic conform

i'm afraid jake doesn't aid the line up for me. i don't know if you seen him today but he was nearly ran over in the pits as he wasn't paying attention, the sound man had to pull him out the way or he was under the wheels.

eddie will never change, he hates the way F1 is run and seems a very bitter person on there these days.

cheers

Yup, i saw him nearly being run over in the pits but nonetheless there is somethng refreshingly naive about him. My kids inform me that he is also presenter of kids programmes. Dunno whether this is good or bad given that I know nothing of his personal 'bendings'
I don't think Eddy is bitter, but rather now he has had the opportunity to reflect on what may have been as well as looking outside the box in an intraspective sort of way.

raptorheli2,
Just compare the numbers of actual race attending fans in just the USA verses the whole world watching F-1 at the tracks and you'll see what I mean.

Go to a NASCAR race and at most tracks you can see the whole race. From what I can tell from watching F-1 on television most fans see only a very small portion of the actual racing. With the numbers of actual passes that take place I would guess most fans never see a pass without watching it on a screen. To me, that's worse than boring but don't take it wrong.

In the US we see both touring style and ovals and by far ovals are the choice prefered.

Running 200 mph a foot or two apart compared to how spaced out the F-1 cars usually are...to me...no comparison....

To me...exciting vs boring.... but I do like all types of racing unless the track is close to a "super boring" soccer match...Soccer is so boring it makes everything and anything close to it boring!

My motto is this..Fly...Rebuild...Fly

I know NASCAR is very popular, but I like the concept of F1 as a more pure racing sport. Having said that, I'll probably not watch a single race of either flavor this year.

rotor, thankyou for your comments. i had a feeling you would say nascar. it is truely different strokes for different folks. nascar to me is antiquated in every way, old tech and going round in circles.

i have no checked viewing figures but i'd be surprised if any motorsport tops F1 worldwide.

cheers

raptorheli2,
Again, this is just my opinion about F-1 being boring to watch. As far as numbers of fans...stock car racing in the USA is watched by more people than any other sport. It happens 7 days a week. Every night people are racing here and filling the stands.

You mentioned the technology of NASCAR..I agree it is no where close to what F-1 has but for me and many others that is the main focus as it is hard for any everyday driver to relate to the F-1 race machine. However, it is easy to relate to the NASCAR type race machine because it is at least close to what they drive everyday to and from work.

I think the F-1 technology is very cool and to hear the screaming engines is beautiful. As I said earlier I like all kinds of racing. I have actually raced motocross bikes, flat dirt oval motorcycles, go karts (both hard surfaced touring tracks and flat/banked dirt tracks, winged sprint cars on dirt and Corvettes on touring tracks as well as drag racing. I really do love all types of racing.

For me the fun in watching is seeing the passing and for me there is just not enough of it in F-1. Would I like to go see the F-1's race at least once? Oh Yea I would!

My motto is this..Fly...Rebuild...Fly
