No big deal is kind of funny. That case blowing out could easily cut an artery in the leg. Low voltage or not, a short is a short. Shorts get hot.

If propperly trained most kids can be responsible with guns, as many are.

I got my first gun when I was only about 10 years old.

Common handgun/rifle amunition ignited outside of the enclosed chamber of a barrel will seperate in opposite directions. The caseing being lighter than the bullet will have the most velocity however its blunt hollow shape and lighter weight will usually render it no more than a danger for injury, not death.
5th grade and kids were throwing the shells up in the air till 1 went off.
Glad you were not more seriously wounded but that had to have been a freak accident for sure. For the shell to go off it would have had to hit something with the rear of the caseing (rear rim if it was a .22) then spin around before seperation to send the caseing toward you. It would normally still be pressed against the wall or ceiling upon detonation and simply pop out the bullet end. As a kid we used to throw .22s thru a open door of a abandoned bare block building to hear them pop (sometimes, they usually didn't go off). We would find the cases next to the wall and the bullets a couple feet away.
As Mchammer said.

I put glow igniters in my pocket all the time. But I make sure that the pocket is empty. And I wouldn't be so stupid has to have ammo in there with it too.

Here in the UK it's not common for people to casually have firearms about with them.

Not unless you live where i do but thank goodness its a thing of the past now. Leaves us more time now to fly our helis and go where we want to without the fear of being blown up or shot.

If it doesnt move and its meant too... use WD 40. If it moves and its not meant too...use duct tape!
