Currently I am flying 13/13 on the N9, I think it might be too much as it bogs a lot even when I have the HZ tuned well.

What is the consensus on head speed and pitch. What have you guys been liking the best?

11-12
I had 13 on mine with the same motor, same problem.
Kinda like starting my truck off in second gear.
When I backed the pitch off, less was more

+/- 13 is fine.
Collective management is the key.

Thanks Bart, I'll try that.

Hirobo, while I agree with you I have never been a good manager.

There's only one way to fix that, & it's not by avoiding it.

I'm also running 13/13 and don't have any bogging issues unless I'm "heavy" on the sticks. I don't really do a lot of pop and lock type flying but I like the extra pitch for stopping moves near the ground.

I'm running 11/11 on my FBL machine and sometimes would like to have the extra pitch for the stopping power close to the ground.

To hover is divine, the alternative is rather PLANE.

Another thought on running a ton of pitch. When doing piro flips it seems less sensitive if you run less pitch. You seem to have to be VERY careful/smooth on the collective if you are running say 13/13 versus 11/11. I'm used to it but at times I do over control the collective in piro flips. Not to the point of bogging but adding too much pitch and the heli will climb or descend or go left or right depending on where the heavy handedness happens.

Right.
That's why I made that suggestion to Helico.
It's easy to have good pitch management but when you're up there and get excited,it's way too easy to over pitch and bang the sticks all the way.
I made this exact programming change yesterday and it was much easier for me...one less thing to think about.

Again, I have to agree.

:i run 12 12 on mine but if your having problems with bogging look at your blades are they 710s if they are they will bog more than 690s . if they are vs they will bogg more than radix or sabs . or may be you just need to learn collective management.

I know I used lock tight why did my head explode

FWIW i really think it depends on what blades you are running.. For example, Vblades are VERY stiff and pretty much hold pitch all the way to the tips... Curtis Radix blades are a wider chord and as such can require more power for a given pitch... Rotortechs are a thinner chord and tend to be more efficient (my experience) even at higher pitch settings...

on my n9 (91SR/SB19) when i go 13/13 i can go full collective loops /etc all day long with Rotortech blades and it will barely loose headspeed.. if i strap some vblades on there and do the same thing it bogs like mad..

Also 690 vs. 710 makes a huge difference...
