I just broke the seesaw on the protos (old version) and I'm about to install the new one but its shorter than the old one (I read it was because of the new material and cooling process).

I'm unable to cut the flybar cage arms precisely enough (0.15mm each side) so my other option is to shim the difference. The total difference is 0.3mm so I need two 0.15mm shims. The problem is that I'm unable to get my hands on 0.15mm in this God forsaken land and all I have here are 0.3mm shims (I can't even remember how I got them).

I measured the wall of a coke can and its 0.1mm... that would solve my problem almost perfectly. I can live with 0.1mm play but making a shim out of a can is another story...

Anybody out there with a clever idea?

Thx

Tony

Try a hole punch, the type you use for filing paper. I've used them to produce plastic shims before, just remember to drill the center hole before you punch it out.

Andrew is your surname McGyver by any chance?

That sounds like a great idea

Ok hows this- Those shims come with every MSH part.

The MSH parts bags are .15 of a mm. If the coke can doesn't work then the paper punch trick may work by just using plastic to take up the slack.

I tried the punch hole and it actually worked but that last 0.1mm play was still bothering me so I opted to sand down the 0.3mm shims until they were 0.15mm. Now its absolutely perfect like I wanted.

Thx for the ideas guys

Sorry I can't write more but I have to put a bandage aid on my finger which ended being sanded in the process too.

Hi Tony

If you want to shorten the flybar cage, use a drill to spin each rod and a Dremel cut-off disk at medium speed, used as an 'angle grinder'

Measure with a vernier and a few light 'touches' and the job will be done. You can quite easily remove exactly what you need on each end.

Paul

Yes I know. I just didn't want to risk to cut "too much". Thats why I went the shim route. I did a few test flights today and everything is perfect

I too have just had to replace the flybar carrier and wow. Compared to the original there is not only slop back and forth but also side to side now?

Are the new CF and plastic kits like this also?

Didn't notice any side to side but I didn't checked for it either.

Almost as if the brass insert is a little to wide so when you tighten the bolts it cannot snug up.

I haven't tried the plastic flybar carrier, but since the beginning I have the Horizon Hobby one and it's just perfect: simply no play.
