i got my new trex 450 with a scale 500 body i am using a 290 JR TAIL SERVO A HH GYRO "NoT A GREAT ONE" GOT THE SPARTANS IN MY 3d STUFF
running about 2300 headspeAD , NEGATIVE 3 TO ABOUT POSITIVE 8 PITCH , STANDARD TREX TAIL BLADES 3500 kv outrunner with 10 tooth pinion and 11 tooth tail pinion. when i flew it without the body the tail held great when i put the body on the tail held not so good it would step out on climbouts bad and i was not punching it that much obvousley this has to do with the weight of the body my fix i think is 60 mm tail blades and a 12 tooth tail gear pinion i think the higher tail speed should help alot also i belive i may have to much pitch what would you guys recomend

I have a couple of 450's that are similar to yours. I had the same tail authority problems as well. Speeding up the tail with the older Align gears (now discontinued) made the tail rock solid even in hard climb outs. If you can locate the right gears you might be all set. If not, Super-Hornet has posted a nice how-to on creating a four blade tail rotor that will also help you. A few links:

What radio do you have? If you can take some of the pitch out of the pitch curve and make it more linear and increase the throttle curve in the radio - I have a DX7 - this should help. I had the same problem with my Scale A-109 body. Also take a look at the main to tail ratio - is it 4:1? I had one that is about 3.75:1 and I really had to flatten out the pitch and increase the throttle so that the tail would keep up with the torque. Good Luck!

i ordered a 12 tooth front tail pinion from outrage
http://www.helidirect.com/rg50221ss...-12t-p-7280.hdx
fliped it upside down a used a dremmel to shave both ends down "was a pain in the arse" also some of the servo casing so it would clear had to dremel away also used 60mm tail blades i think trex 450 v3 tail blades would work also , what this did was increased tail speeed so it worked great,

Increasing tail rotor speed definitely helps. There are a few methods of doing so.
So far I did this:
1. Use Mini-Titan SE pulley and replace our TRex450 pulley to it.
- Replace the TRex450 pulley ONLY for the main frame pulley. Leave the original pulley (tail shaft) the same. It has bigger size and thus, spin faster.
2. Use bigger Pinion (Same teeth angel with our TRex450 pinion) and create a flange on it (to guide the belt) and replace the TRex450 pulley.
- I currently using this method (can't find a time to post and share this to all). By using this method, using 17Teeth will give u around 6.5x turning (tail over main rotor). Furthermore, it is using TRex450 newer gearing. If I were to use 18Teeth or higher, the tail can spin 7x or higher!
