NRA Appeals Seventh Circuit Ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court
Fairfax, Va. - Today, the National Rifle Association filed a petition for certiorari to the U.S. Supreme Court in the case of NRA v. Chicago. The NRA strongly disagrees with yesterday's decision issued by a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, holding that the Second Amendment does not apply to state and local governments.
"The Seventh Circuit got it wrong. As the Supreme Court said in last year's landmark Heller decision, the Second Amendment is an individual right that 'belongs to all Americans'. Therefore, we are taking our case to the highest court in the land," said Chris W. Cox, NRA chief lobbyist. "The Seventh Circuit claimed it was bound by precedent from previous decisions. However, it should have followed the lead of the recent Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals decision in Nordyke v. Alameda County, which found that those cases don't prevent the Second Amendment from applying to the states through the due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment."
This Seventh Circuit opinion upholds current bans on the possession of handguns in Chicago and Oak Park, Illinois.
"It is wrong that the residents of Chicago and Oak Park continue to have their Second Amendment rights denied," Cox concluded. "It's time for the fundamental right of self-defense to be respected by every jurisdiction throughout our country."

So, what's next? The first, third and so forth?

Is it any surprise that such a decision comes from one of the most liberal and crime riden areas of the country?

Stupidity can be cured. Ignorance is for life!

Doesn't word "liberal" means a person fighting for liberties? When did the change of this definition happened? Can someone give me time frame and what political circumstances led to it?

I think this is of monumental importance. If supreme court doesn't overrule this decision the rest of the constitution could be exempt as primary law in localities an government can do whatever they please. Basically this strategy is called divide and concur and certain rich officials are dividing America and concurring the people who pay their salaries. It's unsustainable! I think after economic collapse, political destruction of the country is just around the corner. This reminds me of USSR and USA is following in exact same footsteps and all you hear on the news how pretty Michel's $70 dress was. It seems that this is a nation of retards who are not fit to survive.

Rant over.

Oh, forgot to mention: Did you notice how good Michelle looked today? I wonder what kind of diet she is on? They will tells us about her diet at 9 o'clock prime time news on ALL channels. I just can't wait.

A dangerous position for sure if the SC does not overrule it.

I just wish those that claim to support the 1st, and cry and bitch about the 4th, would actually support the 2nd.

So I guess if they can override federal law on this then that should mean that states should be able to override other federal laws? Like tax law?

Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about!

I did like her speech, but my post was regarding something bigger then 2nd. It'll not about one particular amendment or right, it's about setting a precedent to take ALL rights away from people, first one at a time and then the rest at once.

fwiw,,

As the size of govt. grows, it becomes its own creature,,,,Not unlike the creation of Dr. Frankenstein, it seeks its own identity.....But because of the flawed thinking built into its core, any constraint on its actions are intolerable...We see this from Wilson on to the present, at an accelerating pace...Assault on the Constitution and its principles are attempts by the creature to remove the constraints confining it.....Orwell was only off by a few years....
