Hey all. I have a Hawk Sport that I love to fly, but with anything else, the longer you fly it, you start to wonder how to make it better. I looked into the Ball bearing upgrade and actually wondered if it is necessasy. The Wash out arms and airleron bell cranks have lots of slop but it is not from the bushing set-up. I disassembled them last night and noticed that the bushing and insert they ride on are snugg with a fit you'd expect. However, the mounting screw-to-insert fit is way loose no matter how tight you tighten them, it will only be as snugg as the screw/insert fit. I was wondering if anyone has a fix for this. as I was thinking of heat shrinking some thin heat shrink on the screw, just where it fits into the insert to tighten up the fit. Shouldn't create any isses, as the bearing portion is the outside insert to bushing joint. Also, has anyone done the bearing upgrade and found the screw to bearing fit is tighter? No sense in doing the $25(after shipping)upgrade only to have hardware slop still there. Thats a gallon of fuel I only fly scale.

Honestly I fought this for some time, get bearings its well worth it. I never could keep my washout tight, same with the tail. Yea the bearings are costly but its not a bling upgrade. I got mine one crash at a time...

I looked more at it last night and it is the spacer that is just a few thousands too long which introduces the play. Bearing upgrade it is. I just ordered the triple bearing tail last night. Did the new tail show beter performance. I guess anything is better than the stock flapping tail.

The tail grip upgrade is well worth it, much better than stock hawk but I was talking about the tail bell crank bearing upgrade. Ahh once you start on the upgrade path.......

Where is the tail bell crank upgrade? Century.com? Heli-world? I took mine apart and found the the original builder had installed the insert backwards which introduced the play I was seeing. Once I flipped it over the right way it is nice and tight and smooth now.

Yeah, I am to that point of trying make everything ultra smooth. My tail bearings were worn out and I replace them with some stockers and was thinking, " ABEC 7, orange seal, ceramics, from boca would work nice here".
The new tail and new bearing should smooth out the vibe I had.

Any recomendations on top main shaft bearing upgrade? I see they no longer make the thrust bearing upgrade for the 10MM shaft. I replaced mine about 40 flights ago and it is already developing some radial play in it.

as for bearings, if you have plastic bushings go to your hobby shop and buy bearings, they should have some for RC car bearings that fit,,, as for upgrades start with the 6mm Spindle with Thrust Bearings, and the Auto unit..

4 MM flybar upgrade with symetrical arms installed last night. Nice and tight up top now and the flybar doesn't flex. Come to find out my 3MM stocker had a slight bend to it. I get her real smooth yet.

I found someone in HK tha has the thrust bearing mod for the main that they don't make anymore. I just don't like the slight clunking when I pick up helo from the head. No play side to side, it's just that radial bearing is not well suited for that application. It only has 20 flights on it.

That sound like your mast collar is not set properly, allowing a hair of vertical play in the whole mast assembly....nothing to do with the fit of the radial bearings. I have the origibal radil bearings in my Hawk Pro (well over 400 flights) and no play in the radil bearing area of the blade holders.

Thanks I will check the main mast collar for tightness.
Well, received my new triple bearing tail only to find out one of the grips was missing the outer bearing. I will be calling them today to see if I can get the bearing.

J, how do you like the slipper unit?

The slipper unit is just fine, but not for hard 3D autorotation.
