I just read another case of a ESC catching fire resulting massive damage to a heli on another forum.

I've heard of fires starting on Castle ESCs, Hobbywing ESCs, etc...

Just wanted to get some opinions on what might be happening on the higher voltage ESCs to cause them to fail and start fires.

I've run a CC HV 85 for a while with no issues, but am getting a Hobbywing 100 Platinum and a little leery about using it in a 600E heli.

Thoughts?

I don't know.
I have been following an absolute rash of Align ESC fires.
Mostly the 100amp used on the Trex 600ESP.
I just sold a Trex 500 and included an Align 60amp ESC that was new and never been attached to power. It didn't burn but I was told it never worked.Hmmmm......

I have probably a couple hundred flights on my Align 60amp ESC.
Scorpion power and Align servos with an Align GP750/DS520 tail.
No problems here.
However, the recent rash of failures has me thinking 90amp Scorpion ESC.

Maybe some of these companies are farming out their ESC programs to the same company?????

I literally never use the word literally right.

after a couple good crashes the esc can be damaged , its always a good idea to look them over carefully. and if your lipos arent so good
then you over amp the esc and motor. go nitro !

I have seen one CChv85 go up in smoke and about 15 align esc's do the same. these things are used very hard during flight and failure is a possibility but not normal. most occur from abuse and crashes.
