You might get a little more flight time but that’s not a problem with a gasser. That’s going to be expensive for the electronics plus you will have to find a new head that is large enough for your bird. For your application I would just keep flying it as is.

Fair enough, thanks for the reply, obviously a lot of money for not a lot of gain.I will stay with a flybar head in that case.
Thanks mate

flybarless gasser is sweet
i have a flybarless preddy that i have been flying for abour 2.5 months now, and the thing is sweet. If you were to get a 611 over mikado fbl, you would spend less than $100 extra, and it would be flybarless. I am using the stock plastic grips with vario ball links. I have had absolutely no problems so far with the setup. Im am going to try some of that zeal gel. Before FBL I was flying stock.

Obvious advantages:

Less weight
Faster (FF and cyclic)
Reduced possibility of mechanical failure due to flybar mechanics
Easily lay the heli on its side while tweeking the carb
Reduced vibration
Reduced slop
Reduced crash damage

I dont know how 800mm blades will like fbl, but I cant imagine that that there will be any issues. Go for it!

if im not blade bogging youll find me pack puffing

Well I must say after reading the last post I am still looking at the idea.I am going toprobably run a trex 700 head, for the 800,as they will cope with the weight ok.So a converted 700 head to start with, then where do I go??

As far as airframe goes, I would go with a predator or spectra. I dont know if x cell can swing up to 800mm, but the predator will with a longer boom and tail mechanics.

I would leave the trex 700 for the nitro guys and go with a dedicated gasser airframe.

I'm building a flybarless Spectra-G gasser. I'm just waiting for my defective V-bar to come back from Germany. The tail rotor servo output was not connected from the factory.

the spectra g flybarless would be phenomenal....

Predator is down now due to crown gear stripping in flight! Is this common or did mine just have a defect? Oh and when I was taking it apart, the bearing in the block for the pinion was destroyed. I think my mesh was too tight though. This might be the root cause.

Dont take what I think as gospel, but I would have thought too much clearance would be more likely to strip the crown wheel in flight

no...it was the pinion and main gear that were tight, so when the clutch started vibrating, i think it affected the crown somehow. These helis are wierd. Parts should be here today though

Does someone have video of their flybarless gasser especially doing tick tocks? I would like to hear and see the engine run and what setup is used.

tic tocks??
Hell yeah...even at 6000 feet...ahhh watch ill get a video posted soon. If you have not sent your motor to BH Al then dont even bother trying. These gas motors make serious power at 13.5k with stock black pipe

While the power on the engine has improved light years its still not there to compare to a 90 and for sure not even close to a 10s 50 flybarless machine. When I had a g23 on my 1005 I barelly had enough to do slow funnels on a somewhat windy day.

Don't be fooled into thinking the 26 hanson is a large torque monster. Its larger displacement is helping much, but the engine is more of a horse power than torque engine. The boat guys run obseen rpm without any need for torque. We dont need a 13.5k + machine we need a 12.5-13k ported torque monster.

Look at all of the 231 pred videos on how they blow there head speed at every snap and roll showing how fast it is....untill the engine made for hp is dying with the load.

I have not shot any video of doing 3d for a while, but Raja had a nice video of what a gasser can do and to his credit set up correct. You don't hear the head rpm blow out of the sky.

Either way a flybareless gasser would be much faster regardless of motor.

Wally said that his 27cc engine would be at 11k or so.

What about a flybarless spectra-G running a tuned pipe? Anyone?
