Hey all,

running a Futaba 9CHP super and putting in major sim hours to keep crash costs down... is it ok to charge while I'm using it with my sim? Otherwise I feel like I'm running the batteries more than I need to.

Thanks, and sorry if this is a repost. I looked but couldn't find anything similar.

Usually with most radios when you switch on while it's charging it stops charging, I don't think you can do what you suggest but don't forget that when you plug a sim lead in, it turns off the RF section of the radio so it's battery consumption drops dramatically anyway.

I am fairly sure the sim plug uesd with my 9C did not disable the RF. Check yours does and if it does not just pull out the module.

Yes, charge or power, not both. So plug it in and save the battery.

Yeah I realized that pretty quick, the light on the charger did turn off when the radio is turned on. I haven't noticed the battery being used less, although I understand why it should. Probably should get a new battery for this thing anyway... thanks!

Pull the RF module out the back when on Sim, saves LOTS of power, then ur batts will last for ages.

If you leave the module in then you should have the antenna up a bit as per Futaba guidelines, to stop the TX unit buring itself out thru not being able to get the RF energy out.
