Now, Benny what esc would you run with that eflite 90 motor on 6s
Not really good for 6s as you wont get much rpm out of it. You will have to bump up the cells or go with the 500kv motor. 60-80a esc

Buy APC 15x7e, 15x8e 16x8e, 16x10e

Also TopFlite Prop Balancer

See John, I knew you'd finish before Ed. (I know...low blow. )

Benny, would you mind if I challenge Justin to a flight contest?
My 50 powered Super Zoom against the PilotRC 300.

1 minute, full throttle straight up.
Turn around and repeat.
Whoever makes a bigger hole in the ground wins.

C'mon...it'll be fun.

Al

I found these two threads last night.

first one is a reviewer, who said the stock setup flew better on a 6S 5000mah pack.

review

second one is a guy who put a 1.20 electric motor instead of the stock .80 motor

1.20 motor starts with user madmax1965 about 1/2 way down on page 5 and goes on for a couple of pages

good stuff

first off, I wish I was lying but I'm not, I just went on the sim and started doing knife edges ending up in high alphas across the flight line. and then the batteries on the F#$%^K radio dies.

Ahmed - that looks perfect for me.

Benny - the Rimfire 80 is 500kv

I'll just get a CC Ice 100 and it's a perfect setup for mostly sport flying with a little 3d.

Get a RF G6. You will never ever run out of batteries.

That video looked good. Landings were a bit fast.

I've tried it but it's not for me. I'll keep a fresh supply of batts.

12s is nice but slightly overkill.

John and Al

Please put vbar in your revolver to make BobOD happy.
Although it is cheating, helis are doing them as well.

If you have RF, you can use the Yak54 with gyro to test how it flies. The gyro is on a switch.

It's only cheating if you get caught, but I would not install a gyro in a plane. Phoenix also has a Yak54 that I've flown and liked.

Johnny - Awesome find, nice to read specs and mods from someone who actually has the plane. The only thing I would change is instead of using 3152's and having to step down the voltage I would use HS645's on 6v. They have more torque and are cheaper.

Two best options are:

Rimfire 1.20 pulls 65 amps with a 100amp esc and 17/12 e-prop..... 7 mins flight time

or

Rimfire 80 pulls 50.1 amps with a 75amp esc and 15x7 e-prop......9-10 mins flight time

Al thanks for the help. I think our 550's are coming tomorrow.
The only thing left for me to do is learn how to fly
My pleasure John, I'm glad I was able to save you some bucks. Just bring a pie well done for the maiden.

As for learning how to fly, Benny can teach very well with a price .....The price for parts you will need after hearing "no no no, RUDDER, LEFT, RIGHT no no and in it goes

j/k

What's the difference in using flight stabilization on a plane as opposed to a heli. Don't we love the FBL in our helis. Why hate them in planes?

If we can get a well set 3 axis stabilization it would compensate for wind just like in helis.

Wind yes. Hovering no. The whole point of hovering (unlike helis) is being able to balance it on prop with rudder and elev skill. If it does it by itself, it no longer becomes a coveted maneuver.

Then again, it might be good. That will elevate requirement for pro flying to another level as it has done for helis.

I have to agree with the professor

I wouldn't say I hate fbl in a plane, I would just prefer having something more challenging.
