PS, RedZ06, love your name. Had a 2001 Z06 and after selling that a 2007 Z06 until I sold that last summer. Fun cars for sure, the C5 in some ways better than the C6, except for power and interior .

So, you got it when the z06 first came out in 2001? Cool.

Below is 2002.
I'm getting pressure from my wife to get rid of it. Because I only drive my Grand Caravan due to hobby stuff. If it wasn't for the 2-3 commute between NJ and CT, it would still have about 9k miles only. It now has 16k on odometer.

I got the first year, but it was about 05 when I got it. Had it for year and a half and got bit by the C6Z bug.

My 01 was red too
my 07 was silver

cool cars for sure
sold my 01 to buy the 07, and sold the 07 last year as I never drove it and it depreciated about 1k a month .

But, it is not about driving it. It is the ability to drive it whenever you desire.

true, I just wanted to put my $ somewhere else for the time being. I may look into another C5Z in a couple years. I love the blue color in 2002, electron blue I think it was .

My 01 had cam/headers and put 393 to the wheels . I'd probably keep the 02 close to stock though as I'm getting lazier about modding cars now hehe!

here are pics of my 01z, my 1992 LT-1 M6, and my C6Z

Back to topic...I recently purchased a OS 91HZ and elected not to get the Align version saving $100. Well let's say I'm glad I did.

I removed the crank and found a divot (small dent) in the crank pin, along with a small groove. So that means the crank is bad.

The case is chewed up inside, around the flywheel and releaved area where the connecting rod travels. The ports have metal fragments embedded, no longer smooth.

Basically, this motor is trashed. Only the head, sleeve, baskplate, and carb survived. I have read other post's having issues with the connecting rods breaking, on Align motors.

I wish now that I would of spent the extra $100.00 for the O.S. engine. Lesson learned!

I think in all fairness, this needs to be repeated.

The Align motor is made by OS as everyone knows so the quality there. Now it is a matter of warranty service. Any kits bought with Motors from HeliWholesaler or its dealers including Heliproz, Ron's and many others are covered under a warranty by us. So now you have the support. What else is there? No need for remorse.

Unfortunately we cannot cover prior kits that did not come through us. You would need to go back through the distribution channels and get that distributor to cover the warranty. But again, any kits that come through us are covered.

In this case with Ray, his motor would have been covered by us 100%. As I have known Ray for a long time, we'll make sure we help him as best as possible. Ray is a cool dude and a good friend for many years.

Hope this helps put some faith and settle some rattled nerves withe Align motor and support questions.

Thanks for reading/listening.

Yes..that is very fair..

Hey guys..you guys are all so damm lucky to have this kind of support from local hobby shop in the USA.

In Singapore, sad to say if anything happens like this in this case like Ray's, it would be totally needless to bring it back to LHS for warranty. The shop will tell you to buy new ones.

I got a very bad experience with a LHS before. I got a Futaba 12Z brand new and had problem with the navigation button in day 2. Guess what when I send it back, they told me to wait for Japan to send replacement. I make a big fuss and finally they changed to a "new" one. In the end, I found out that it is actually NOT..how i know? There is no plastics covering on the changed tx (supposed if it is new there is a flim covering)

In another incident, my frd got a Tahmazo T210 starter and had the gear stripped in the fourth start starting a 90 size. Bring it back to the same LHS, guess what? They said need to repair..!! Cannot changed to a brand new one since it is used. I swear to god that this is only the fourth start..Gear stripped..!!

I never wanted to buy from that LHS again..unless no choice and there is only one LHS.

I will be calling Jeff later this morning to see what my options are, and how he can help.

In the meantime.....Coronal brought over an O.S. 91 SZH pump motor for me to try. He bought this on the net (possible refurbished?) and wasn't sure how it would work, so asked me to install it in my 700N.

Last night (Wed.) just before our club meeting, I was able to put up a flight to see how this motor would fair compared to the HZ. The HZ defiantly has more power, buy not by much! The SZH really surprised me. The run (RMP) was consistent through out the flight. I tried to load down the head to slow the motor (bog), but it wouldn't let me! I didn't want to whale on it too much as I don't know how many flights are on it.

I started out with the mid and main needle set to 1-3/4 turns out. Plenty of smoke, back plate almost cool to the touch, and the head was around 190*F.

Heli Wholesalers stepped up and helped me out. The people at Heli Wholesaler, Heliproz, and Heliproz South (Ron's) are great people to work with. I've spent many hours asking about different product before purchasing, and not once was I hurried to make a decision. And the best part, they stand behind their product, 100%.

And as Jeff stated;
HeliWholesaler or its dealers including Heliproz, Ron's and many others are covered under a warranty by us. So now you have the support. What else is there? No need for remorse.
There is support / warranty for the Align motors, and my problem was solved.

While the motor was running, it ran great. Had plenty of power and ran smooth, with a bit of throaty authority (muscle engine!). The Align 91 HZ is a bit louder, deeper sound, then the O.S. 91 SZH.

Thanks Jeff! You Da man!!!

Given that every part of the Align 91 is the same as the HZ (assuming the Align was the black headed version), what accounts for the difference in running tone that you describe?

Dr. Ben,

It's the sound. Like switching from a glass-pack muffler (on a car / hot rod) to a Hush-Thrush muffler. The only difference, I switched engines. The Align / O.S. HZ series sounds throatier, IMOP.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH......................

I missed the SZ vs HZ in your original post.

I thought at first you were saying the Aligh HZ and the OZ HZ sounded different.

My bad.
