NO SPARK NO POWER
I AM RUNNING 2X 4500 NIMH NEW JR packs one each for receiver & EI. I check my voltage after every flight.

In a nut shell the EI sucks the juice out of the battery. After 2.5 tanks around 1 hour of flight time I am at 4.7 so already in need of a charge...while the other identical pack is at 5.0.

I will have a generator on the lower crank out put shaft as oon as I get some time....

I did like Juan said and i blowed all the gas out the cylinder with a airhose and put the plug back in and i pulled it one time and it poped and i put the choke on half way and pulled it once or twice and it cranked. I hovered it a little while then i took off into forward flight and flew a few circles and when i came to a stop the heli did a 360 but i kept conrol of it and took off and made a few more rounds. The heli still has a vibration but i flew it any way i'm not sure what to do to get the vib out of it so i guess i will have to play with it until i can get it to run smooth. i'm just glas the SOB cranked up thats to Juan. If any one has any tips on how to get ridd of the vibs i would love to hear it?

Thanks

smallplanes,
I'm glad that my suggestions were able to help... After some diagnosing, I had the feeling that the motor was getting flooded...

Not sure what could be causing your 360 problem but some of the vibrations are surely being caused by that bent piece on the blade grip you described earlier. Replacing that piece will get you going in the right direction.

These problems are very difficult to resolve via the keyboard so I hope you'll be able to get together with shuttlepilot soon. I'm sure that he'll be able to help you "fine tune" your heli.

Keep us posted with your progress...

Well i guess thats one of the bad things about running camper fuel you can't smell and tell if it is flooded. My clutch liner is starting to breakin it's getting a little free'er. Irwin could you send me a new arm for my blade grip and a few good plugs for the G260PU-EI motor? I also need the two rubber landing gear mounts as i pulled so hard that they broke free fromm all the hard pulling and cusing.LOL

Shuttlepilot let me know when we can get together and try to fine tune my heli i'm ready to just fly this thing with out having to work on it all the time? I don't understand why it would spin a 360 a few times every time i stopped the heli. I have a 611 gyro and a 9256 tail servo does anyone know why it would spin? I had my gain on 60% and 50% and it spun both ways. I'm using the plastic tail blades that came with the bat do you think carbon would do better?

Thanks for all the help

You mean on spool down your copter spins? what gyro you using, are you in rate or head hold?

spin on spool up is semi normal if you are in head hold and taking off a hard surface.

Spin on spool down could be because your gyro rates in throttle hold are different than in your normal/idle up modes. Some futabas you have to program each mode seperate. I know that is how it was with my 9z. Not sure on your 12z.

I think he found the problem, loose set screw on the tail shaft pully for the belt drive.

Check the belt to see if it is ate up from the loose set-screw...

It is amazing that the Quick gassers can still fly with a tail problem. A little story ...

Went out to the flying field and put a flight on the Donimator. It was very slow to react when pivoting to the right. I landed without any problems and checked the tail over. No visible problems.

So I started it up later on and did another flight. Still excessively slow to pivot right. Ok, this time I didn't hesitate to land and really give the tail a look over. That is when I found the problem. The tail shaft had broken in two inside the tail belt pulley. I must have torqued the tail pulley set screw tight enough to shear the shaft in half.

So during those two flights, the Dominator still flew though was slow to pivot. It could have been way worse ... I could have lost the heli or even worse.

Quick definitely makes some good helicopters!

NOT SO TIGHT
Over tightening the set screw WILL cause the tail out put shaft to split OVER TIME.

The engagement of the set screw with loctite prevents the pully from rotating. Our newer tail shaft has a flat on the shaft depending which machine.

Also too tight a belt causes additional torque on the belt...

Hey Mike I think that A-Ho in the north needs some southern hospitality....

Well i got my set screw back tight and my new landing gear dampers on and i went outside to test it Sunday. Well you guessed it another problem, time i lifted of the ground it spun again just like before,, i cut it off and went to check things out well what do you know for the second time mt bolt broke into that goes thru my two white gears. I do not understand why these bolts keep breaking i'm not putting that much pressure on them when i tighten them up? Would it help if i drilled it out for a bigger bolt? It's getting on my nerves very badly why cant i get it to fly? I thought i was almost there and now this happens. My new clutch liner is very tight would that have anything to do with the bolt breaking? O yes it's cranking good again after i blew the fuel out of the cylinder. HELP HELP PLEASE

Thanks

^^

I asked him the same question in a PM..... I think he's talking about the "jesus bolt".....

If so, and considering this is the second one that has broken, I suggested he get one from a different vendor and that is should be at least a 12.9 grade.....

The bolt should have a non threaded shoulder all the way past where it comes through the hub. It may have to be "custom" cut to length to achieve this.

If there is any part of the thread taking any of the load, this could explain why they are breaking....

Yup , that is how I did my "Jesus bolts" on my Bat26cc. I used shoulder bolts cut to size. I had one break in a Raptor .50 one time so I always make my own "Jesus bolts".

I've been lucky and never had one break in flight....knock....knock. I have found one broken on the ground. When I checked mine out it looked as though I had tightened it too much. Sometimes I have a bad habit of doing that. I'm hoping that we can get together sometime this weekend. Hopefully we can get this Bat smoothed out.

All out hardware ordered as DIN 12.9...Like Forrest Gump said you never know what you getting...

Shank screws are better & we will add to the hardware package directly. However the incendent rates is extremely nomimal, I think the shearing is due to another issue.
