I was flying my Vigor .90 CS today when I lost elevator control. It almost felt like I was locked out because I was trying to pull out of a dive. I was able to yaw 90 degrees and pull out with aileron. It was over a lake at the time, and by some miracle I was able to get it over my normal landing area and auto in. It ended up being a perfect landing. As you might expect, I walked over to the heli and popped the canopy off expecting to find a detached servo arm or linkage. Everything appeared fine, and then I noticed this:

The link going from the mixing arm to the swash plate failed. For those of you who wonder how these things fly with a missing link, the answer is "not so great!" While the heli didn't to anything too crazy, it was definitely a handful, and it was difficult to tell exactly what the failure was. Even though I landed successfully, I suspect that had I been in a maneuver at the time that I would have lost her.

So, has anyone had this piece fail before, and is there anything I can do to make it less likely to happen in the future?

Thanks,

Josh

I have never seen this before. One thing I see in the picture is...the broken piece in your heli is different from my VigorCS. One on my heli is gray color.

It is grey on my other Vigor as well. What color is it on the Vibe? Some of the parts on this heli are from a Vibe.

From what I see it appears that at some point you have had this link off before and either when removing it or replacing it and cracked it. It may have been some time ago butt it finally gave out. I am very careful with mine, if it doesn't feel like it is going on right STOP and examine closely dont force it otherwise this can happen (or if lucky it will break in your hand)

Had that happen on my vigor apart from i broke both the links at the same time,
Mine were black in colour, after rebuilding i found i had a small amount of binding, reduced the throws and never had the problem again.

The part is gray on both Vibe 50 and 90. But on my last spare parts order, I got black ones in the package.

Strange. I wonder why some are a different color. According to my manuals, the Vibe and Vigor use the same part number, so I'm not sure what the significance of the different colors is.
