I have an OS50 MAX motor that needs to be broken in. What % of nitro
and how many tanks would be considered "healthy" for this to be broken in correctly??

Also, what glow plug should I use?? I was told years ago to use OS#8 for helicopter engines, but there are so many out there, which one should I use??

whatever % nitro you plan to run is your starting point. usually, i run 4-5 tanks through at hover, before changing the hs needle. at that point, all bets are off, and tune it out.

ten grand in helis and all i can do is hover

Last breakin I did I ran one tank cold (rich), then on the second tank leaned it out till I got a bit of heat, emptied that tank, then on the third tuned it up. My understanding is that ringed engines don't require too much of a breakin.

Also, running tank after tank bone cold isn't going to help break the engine in at all. It's really the varying heat that does it.

dont forget to run a few clicks richer than the setting in the manual, it will run hot at that setting on a brand new engine.

I'm not sure what the manual says, but from my experience, it won't start running with ANY heat until you get to about 1.5 turns out. I ran my first tank at about 2 turns, then to 1.5 turns, then end up on the 3rd tank to about 1 1/4 turns (at which point it's tuned).
