... video and pics to follow ...

I got to see Matt fly the fear out of the N5 this weekend at the Birmingham event (great event!!!).

It looks like it tracks just like the N9, very fast, very stable.

The parts didn't have the final anodizing but the final finish will not be black (per Matt).

The tailbox was beefy and a new design.

I could see a number of common parts that are shared with the N9.

The head was smaller so it's not the N9 head although it looks the same.

It looks bigger than most 50's but it hand tons of power and looked light in the air.

It's still a prototype so I'm sure things will change.

No canopy yet but it should look just like the N9's.

Also, he had the new Futaba GY520 gyro and says it's comparable to the Spartan in terms of performance. The thing is tiny and only about 3/4 the size of a Spartan.

I'll post some close up pics as soon as my phone recharges.

Great. But lets get to the nitty gritty. What engine is he running?? is it a new one?? I only ask because in alot of his posts he eludes to the fact of a new OS.

BTW I will have one when they are available..

No, it was just a standard OS50 Hyper (as far as I could tell) with a funtech pipe.

He didn't mention a release date, I'm sure it will be available "when it's done" it's still a prototype and he's still working on it.

I spoke with Matt also regarding the anticipated release date and although he could not be specific he felt perhaps mid May 09 would be realistic. The N5 flew very smooth as mentioned, the one way auto system is silky smooth. The servo layout and bellcrank system will provide easy access and simplified set-up. Its presence in the air would no doubt have been enhanced if the canopy was included in it's debut !! It also was sporting some prototype metal grips in lieu of the standard plastic blades grips. Looking forward to seeing the final finished machine.

Please Matt don't let the programme slip beyond mid May, because that means it would likely hit the UK shores the end of May, any further into June then that's mid way through or the flying season here, would be a shame to lose out on as much air time as we can get before the bad weather hits us again, well not that it leaves us really.

As Brian say's some updated pic's would be great.

Hi, does anyone plan on posting info about the N5 that we don't already know?

Great! You saw it fly! There is a video we can watch, you know?

Why start thread after thread mirroring the exact info from Synergy or Matt?

If you look at the high res pics on Matt's site, you can see what he is running. No secret, it's plainly obvious.

I am excited about the N5 too, but seriously?

@Helico-pteron

Now why would you make a rude post like that? If you don't care about the thread then don't read it. Nobody really cares about your opinions on somebody's motivations for making a post. It's like complaining that there is too much violence on TV when all you have to do is change the channel. Have some respect for others, this isn't your personal forum.

Bk, your sure it wasn't a 57 in a OS50 case.

I picked up the N5 and took a look at it. Looked nice and simple. The way good things should look.

Nope, not sure. It was the same head though, I would think if it was bored out the head would have to be different, dunno, your guess is as good as mine.

This is great stuff....

Actually, not only is it an OS .57, but I hear he's also running the super-secret prototype BLS 353s at 11V on a 3s pack., but truth be told, the extra punch he flies with is all because of the new Cool Power 40% he's running.

I bet with that stuff, anyone can fly like he does.

You absolutely missed the point of my post altogether.

There are 5 threads on this in every forum.

A new one is born every time someone see's it fly.

Not once did I say anything to you directly. Fact of the matter is, why post the same thing over and over again?

Now you can give cation3 a hard time since he did pretty much the same thing I did.

Fairly certain that cation3 was being a little sarcastic with reference to your post - I could be wrong -but I doubt it. Chances are if you had seen it fly in person you would likely have posted something also which may or may not have seemed redundant.
