IIRC the orginal ATG could run without the gain wire attached, setting headspeed with the LED on the unit. Try shooting buzzin brian or helivig a pm. Or heck even call CY, great people and I am sure they can help. I am just not sure if the V3 has this function.

If I had one of my manuals with me I could be of more help. But I know the V1 version could be configured this way.

Yup found it in the manual

RPM setting without Aux Channel plug
You can set the RPM without using the Aux Channel.
1.) Leave the ATG gain plug unplugged (the one with the blue heat shrink)
2.) Move Throttle near mid stick and push "P" button
3.) Lights will flash indicating RPM setting. (See chart in Section F)
4.) Push "H" and "L" buttons to raise or lower RPM accordingly.
Note: For the RPM to correlate you need to set the gear ratio as described in
section E.

The ATG will get its power from your throttle channel.

hope this helps

badraptor, a while back all I had was a 6 channel radio. I read the same thing about the atg. I called them to check on set up and they told me that it really doesn't work and that the atg needs a channel. Call cy and ask them. Its what they told me last year. I'm not sure if the v3 was out then or not.

Altec intersting. I have never had the inclination to actually try it. I have always had a seven channel or larger rx.

Baddraptor,

I have the G-view and set the RPM as I wanted.
Now are you saying that I now can leave my ATG on my Bat channel with my Y cord and also have the bat power on this channel?

NO, I am not saying that. The throttle wire from the ATG should go to the throttle plug on the RX. The second gain wire according to the instruction should be able to be left unplugged. But with info from Altec I am not sure it will work this way. I would not plug a Y into a gain wire from any other plug as you will get conflicting signals with whatever else is plugged in.

Send buzzinbrian or Helivig a PM and see if the config I have posted will work. Or better yet call them. Although it would be nice to see them post on here regarding this.

PS your battery plug has NO signal coming from it so it will not work with a Y.

The ATG and ATG V2 did not allow you to leave the gain channel unplugged (the instructions were wrong).

ATG V3 does. So all you need plugged in with the ATG V3 is the throttle channel.

Thanks for that Curtis.

Also, I would NEVER plug my power supply into a Y lead. Its a risk I would not be willing to take. Leave the battery plugged into the battery slot. Plug the ATG throttle lead into the throttle port. Plug the servo into the ATG and leave the gain wire unplugged and your good to go.

Thank guys for your help. It's good to know that Curtis finds time to read RR and help with his products. This is one other reason I use CY products.
