OK - let's figure this thing out together - the power in numbers and all that!

This thread worked great for the YS91 SR engine, so let's try it for the Align 91H and OS 91HZ engines.

I know settings will vary, blah blah blah, and I know that the settings in the manual are just a good starting point, but between all of us we have some real world settings, and I'd like to find out, on average, what those settings are.

So, post your settings for your Align or OS 91 engines here, and I will keep a running average. After a couple days, we should get a pretty good idea of what the average settings are for these guys, and people could use that as a real world starting point.

This is what is posted in the manual:

Mid (short needle): 2 turns
Hi (long, lower needle): 2 turns

(Not a lot of detail there like with the YS91!! )

Mid Needle: 32 clicks = 1 turn.
Hi needle: 32 clicks = 1 turn.

So post those settings, and I'll keep a running average.

OK everyone. The weekend flying is over. The heli has been defueld, and you're puting her away for the long week ahead.

While you're looking her over, take a look at those fuel needle settings, and let us know. I'll keep tabs on them and give you guys a running average.

Thanks!

Maybe they are too busy flying to worry about where their needles are set

OK Rocko as much as I like helping a brother out lol... Mine is running way to awesome to even think about moving them needles lol..

BTW I am running Cline setup with an OMI Carb so I am not sure how helpful they would be anyway.

mid at the 1 o'clock and the high at 6 or 12 o'clock however you want to look at it. I'm not turning them in just to count clicks

Sorry Rockohualic, I had a dean's failure with mine at the start of flight 6. Parts are on order, should have them tomorrow, and the heli rebuilt and flying by the weekend.

Currently (Align 91 HZ ((os look-a-like)) with Outrage pipe, 30% Wildcat CY heli mix), for break-in.....high = 2turns out.....and mid = 1-1/4 turns out.

I will update after break-in.

you can never tell where the needles are because if you move them to measure they will never go back. It is some quantum physics law or something.

Nonetheless, Align 91H High is couple clicks inside 1.5 turns. Mid is about 1.5. Start at two turns each. Fly. go in a couple clicks on high until power is right. Then adjust the mid.

Rinse and repeat.

IT's what I do.

ok, here are my needle settings:

setup: Align H (black head), Hatori 938-3D (SB18) with the new V2 header, Rapicon 30%/23%, Align 690D blades, headspeeds 1820/1930 and 2010, +- 12°pitch...

hi needle: about 1.75 turns out

mid needle: about 1.5 turns out

Only 12 flights so far, but this combo pulls like a champ with this setting. I have fantastic mid range torque for very fast lateral tic-tocs, max temp is about 85°C, over 10 minutes flight time with a empty main- and a full header tank at the end of a turn.
