Can anyone explain the subtle differences between the Triton 2 and Triton chargers?

What updates were included on the "Green Dots"

triton 2 can do 5s lipo over the 4s std version, more progrm opptions 10 model memory and higher wattage.
the new triton2eq is the bomb i just got one. it is awesome best balancer i've seen, and can charge 6s pack at 4.7 amps.

MAXHSHV,
You must have 4700Mah packs? From what I read I will only charge liops at the 1C rate.

It was a software revision.
Made sure lipos were fully and not over charged.
Modified peak delay timer for NiCd and MiMh.
Modified battery memories for lipo settings.
And fixed something in the rotary wheel(has to do with scrolling).
I think that was about it?

i have been using the Triton 2 for about two years now, i love it. it hasnt had a single hickup.

although i now have so many lipo's and other batteries, that it works overtime trying to keep up with everything.

just an FYI.

there are a couple other Tritons, like the JR...a dumbed down Triton 2. there is also the newer Triton EQ...which is similar to the Triton 2, but does 6 cell lipo.

also, there is the yet to be release Triton ZX. i have been keeping an eye on its progress for over a year now. no pics yet. but with two power outputs, one doing 12s lipo, the other 4s lipo, graphing, multi-color backlite, USB interface, and more...it will be my ultimate charger. between the Triton ZX (due to be released in april) and my Triton 2, i should not have a problem with keeping up on all my batteries.

Check here for more info on the ZX. some of the info is conflicting, one part says 10s lipo, another says 12s. the 12s is an updated figure, i guess they forgot to change it else where in the add. i believe it also has a built in balancer...

yes mr 770 all my 6s packs are under 400 mah because all my larger birds run 12s and you don't need huge packs at high voltage, a 3200 mah setup will get you 4 and half minutes of hard flying at 2200 to 2300 headspeed, and alot longer if you take it easy. I see no need to luggung around 2 5000 mah packs when the small packs performe so well.

Triton ZX mystery

The Triton ZX has been advertised by Tower Hobbies for release for at least a year now (maybe even two years?)! Can you imagine backordering one and waiting so long for something to appear!

Wonder why such a long delay unless they are waiting for a large amount of backorders to justify the design and fabrication....

I wouldn't hold my breath any longer!

well...like i said, i have had an eye on the ZX for a long time. i have not baught another charger simply because im waiting for this one.

i know that it has been well over a year. i have been tracking it. actually....i remember telling people last spring that it was comming out in april (of 2008) and right now, it once again says april.

but...there are some differences. they have not only updated the specs of the charger, but the april date has not changed for some time. normally they advance the ETA by 2-3 months at a time.

The Turnigy chargers at Hobbycity seem to be a really good deal. The comments section is full of information for each of the chargers. From What I read they do a better job of cell balancing than some chargers that are a lot more expensive.
I have ordered one.
Sorry for the thread hijack.

Triton ZX release

If it was due out soon don't you think they would at least show a picture of it?

I have a Hyperion Duo and it is a great charger. Now they have made it even better with a Duo II.

Goood point...

i am just trying to be optimistic. i have been waiting for the ZX for a long time.

i have been looking at the EQ, it just seems like an updated Triton 2. but i am really attracted to the features of the ZX.

i have looked at the Schulz (spelling check) chargers, they have specs similar to the ZX, and even exceed the ZX performance specs in a number of ways. but the price tag...ouch...i realize you are getting a high quality product...but there is nothing wrong with the Triton series.

i have also looked at the hyperions. one of my friends has two of Duo 2's. but nothing other then a dual output makes me want to dish out the money for one...and the fact that it does not have a discharge function turns me off. i like to cycle any of my none lithium batteries. it sucks having only one real capable charger and having it tied up on a slow cycle.
