A fellow heli friend brought along his SkyTach optical techometer last evening at the local indoor fly-in and measured some hovering headspeeds of our helis. My Super FP headspeed measured 1,755 RPM in the hover. I was a little perplexed and thought the headspeed would be in the 2,250 - 2,350 RPM range; however, then the light went off...I'm not in idle up mode...this is an FP heli and I'm only hovering at approximately 65% throttle.

My friend also measured a bone stock HBFP in the hover. Any guesses on the headspeed of the HBFP?

1,250, which was a little more than what I would have guessed. I thought around 1,100.
