Hi everyone,
I have a trex 450 with the 430l motor and every time I flip, the motor bogs greatly and it's difficult to keep it's altitude. My friends say it's my collective management but when one of them tried it, he said the motor felt really weak. I don't know what to do besides getting the new Xl motor. I tried it on my new outrage 2200mah 25c battery with 12,11 and 10 degrees of pitch and it still feels underpowered. Any help would be apreciated.

Where are your throttle curves set in idle up?

Mine are 100 100 100 with the same set up and it has plenty of power for even full collective climb outs....

Quick...here comes my wife....hide that new Heli !!!!

What pinion are your running? Did this just start up or has it always been this way? Something does not sound right.

I'm originally ran the 13 tooth pinion but was told to change to the 12 tooth. I am running 100-90-100 on idle up 2. I'm also using the align 335 pro blades.

Try an 11T. Your headspeed will be lower, but that will help some.
Or ditch the blades. Your options are limited.

Going to the XL motor will help out some, but there are other motors I'd suggest before I ever suggested the XL.

I guess I should just buy a new motor, maybe the 430xl? One thing I don't understand though is that seeing other people fly with their 430l both in realife and youtube, it seems the motor has some descent power. I wonder what's wrong with mine?

The 430L motor is the bottom of the pit with Align motors for the 450,I went to the 430XL and loved it.If your running the 25A esc thats a problem also, the 35G is a nice esc.The scorpion-8 and jazz esc is a awesome combo.

It has taking me some time to get my 430L motor to come to life on my bigger then yours Mini Titan. Im running a 13 tooth, with main trottle curves of 100, 100, 100, 100, 100.

Im also only running my motor acceration/speed in the ESC at 60%. This is a scorpion commander esc though, and much more high end the align 35x.

Im running my timing at 15%, and this seems to be right. I just tested mine as a matter of fact, as Im still tuning to the new esc, and I was able to slam the collective up and down 25 times, while hovering in between, and got a full 6 minutes, 2 seconds. This is the best I have seen it run.

My buddy has the same setup as you, and does moderate 3D with his align 450, and it rocks.

I would say your curves are real close. I would mess with the timing a bit, and run a 13 tooth. DON'T BUY ANOTHER MOTOR. This is not going to fix your intial problem. You just need to tune your motor/esc perfectly.

So should I try the 11 tooth pinion for more torque, or the 13 tooth pinion for more headspeed?

so I guess I'll put my 13 tooth pinion back on and raise my throttle curves more. If that doesn't work I'll just buy a new motor. Thanks for everybody's help.

You will be spending silly money if you buy another motor. You have NOT investigated all of your tuning options, and or you have not staed anything about your timing, changed curves, trying a simple set of 325's instead of those monster size 335's.

Id say you will have this same simpton with a V8 engine strapped to youe 450, as you need to open yourself to tuning options....

Running the scopion 6 is for nothing but hard core 3D flying, on 4 cell batterys. The scorpion 8 is a bit more tame, with the same effects.

Again, buying another motor whilst not checking every angle first is sillyness.

Take a sheet of paper and pencil, and get your batterys all charged uyp, and goto the feild with youe esc programing info, and start tuning, while makeing notes of what works, and what does not.

Eliminate all negetive effects before you buy, as the more highend motors need more tuning then the 430L ever will. Bigger is not always better, or needed.
