Want to get more flight time between charges. Tail servo is a Futaba digital 9253. Is it ok to run this servo on 6v and or should I just switch to the 2 in 1 with the 2 cell lipo, voltage regulator and glow adaptor ??? The other servos will run on 6v. Am finding conflicting onfo on the Futaba servo and 6v.

No, the 9253 is not a 6V compatible servo. 5.8 volts, max.

The 2 N 1 works fine, its output voltage is 5.8. I still use a stepdown lead in the gyro servo lead, as 5.8 is max voltage and the stepdown drops that to about 5.1 volts, giving a bit of a safety margin. The stepdown is nothing more than a silicon diode wired in series with the + voltage lead of your servo harness.

But if you want more flight time between charges, higher voltage isn't what you need.

Higher capacity battery pack (larger mah rating) is the key.

I'm running the basic align regulator for 2 cell lipos. It regulates the voltage down to 5.8, but also has a small regulator that you attach to the line going to the gyro and servo that regulates to 5 volt. Works well.

That "small regulator" is the stepdown diode...

I understand that higher voltage isn't longer flight time, just thinking of switching from 4.8 1400mah 4cell pack of nicad to 5 cell nimh, 2000mah pack. Was thinking of the 2 in 1 in lieu of the new nimh pack. What I read of the 2 in 1 it specifically says not to use it with that servo but Futabas' website says it's 4 or 6v.

the 2 in 1 works great, just use the stepdown for the tail.

Step 2 in the instructions...don't use those servos unless you put in the "5.1 volt" inline voltage stepdown thingy (aka the silicon diode in the lead, as in that link I posted.

2N1 works fine, put the step down in the servo lead, go fly.
