The bellcranks in my predator get so stiff that they will loose all free movement if I try to tighten the bolts that secures them.
The only way to get freedom of movement is to tighten them very lightly but this doesn't seem normal to me.
I installed the Jewel generator mount and it's the same thing, they get stiff, and if I try to use them loose so as to get the freedom of movement, the generator mount is not secured enough and the mount tilts up once rps's spool up.
The stiffness problem is with and without the Jewel generator mount.
Any ideas? or has anyone been trough this?
Thx.

For the bellcranks, are you using the stepped standoffs with the step towards the bearing?

Hi jester4.
Yes, I placed the stepped standoffs with the step towards the bearing's inner race, I tightened them just a bit without too much pressure otherwise they'll get stiff. Looks like the pressure I applied to them is enough to hold them secure but not enough to hold the jewel generator mounting which tended to turn easily on it's axle, I drilled a second hole for a screw to hold the mounting secure and the bellcrancks seem fine with the limited pressure I applied tightening them, but this limited tightening pressure is what's odd to me.

Did you put the spacer that goes inside the bellcrank, between the two bearings?

The bellcranks came assembled with the bearings in place, I just checked and there are no spacers between the bearings on either one
I revised all my bags and there's no spacers I could use there, looks like they would be too long.

Hi oldfart.
No, it's a new kit. I ordered another set of bellcranks from esprit, hopefully they'll come with the spacers included.

I just rx'd my Predator and started building last night. The head was assembled, but I did loctite what was required. The bell mixers were fine.

Although, in the first package with the assembled grips/head, there is two bearings and no instruction as to where or what these are for?

Did you have these as well?

My kit came with those bearings aside also, if I remember right those were main blade grips bearings, I just left them as spares since the grips came pre-assembled with the bearings in place.
The instruction (building) manual is very lacking, IMHO. Also you must dive into all the bags for certain parts since there is also a lacking packing logic and no labeling.

Thanks. That's what I thought about the bearings also. Ya, Century manuals are ok, but they are lacking something. I remember my first Century Hawk Pro build... had to get local help.

Now I have a lot more experience and it seems a lot easier to me now, but the century manuals always leave questions unanswered (they are like little presents sometimes... like these extra bearings)

Yes, once you decipher the manual and get to know the heli, the next time it must be easier, but as a product introduction it's a pain in dasss

Hey Manol, did you use the spacers when you mounted the landing gear frame plate to the engine?

I never really understood this Century thing with the manuals or lack there of. It seems that this is not uncommon among different heli manufactures. Its always puzzled me why the manufactures can not send a detailed manual with the kit. If I go and purchase a Toaster from Wal-Mart, it comes with a manual, for which I dont even need. I mean who doesnt know how to toast bread in a toaster? Never the less it comes with one, These heli kits are far more complicated than toasting bread yet come with
a lack luster manual and in some cases with upgraded parts come with no manual at all. With all the little washers and screws that must be installed in the correct order in order for it to work correctly I sometimes wonder if they do it on purpose just so we crash and have to buy new parts. I just dont understand!!

Spacers on the Landing Gear Frame Plate

Did anyone use the spacers when you mounted the landing gear frame plate to the engine?

I bought the SE NX Predator, Doesn't this come with the ESS? I'm pretty sure it was supposed to. I can't find it anywhere.

Dilbeck, you're right, these things are costly complex flying machines yet we sometimes must deal with low quality parts or finishes, low grade information or no information at all to assemble them.
Thelane, no I didn't needed the landing gear frame/engine spacers and yes, the ESS came with my NX kit but, some other items that were supposed to come with it did not and were the standard version parts.
Kind of a mess.

I ran the LG spacers last year, helps give clearance for the pull start and those very long tail blades. This year I took them off as I like the look of a lowered heli and I'm using the removable starter assembly.
