Well after breaking my battery tray off for the 3rd time I decided to modify the broken piece to not only save what was left but to also move the battery in closer to the main frames, not sure how it's going to affect the balance though, not that it matters unless you fly FAI

Looks good to me. I have a couple of broken/bent ones and I'll do the same.

The only problem I see is the possibility of destroying the frame where the battery tray mounts to in your next crash instead of breaking the battery tray itself.

Yes I guess anything is possible, you could also argue that the tray in it's original length if you were to have a crash where the helicopter is pointed straight at the ground that it will shove the tray back into the frames and crack both sides of the frame where it mounts along with the tray as well. IMHO I feel the tray is more stout being closer to the frames.

Looks good. Let us know if you notice any difference in forward/backward flight.

Just do it.

Hi

What we have been doing is using an old c channel to support the tray. We replace the 2 small pieces with a complete length of c channel and put a bolt through the front centre of the tray to support it. Since then, we havent broken a front tray at all.

cheers
Glenn

Tray

That's a pretty good idea, does the C/U channel just bend? Come to think of it that's how the tray is supported on my Fury Extreme.

Hi guys,

i will try to. We got sick of the tray breaking with a sub c pack on it when they first came out.

We took a piece of c channel from the fury, and simply drilled holes to suit the stratus frame and just used a nut and bolt. If you look at the tray at the front, we drilled a hole in the centre of the cutouts and bolted it there. We then simply strapped the battery from underneath and havent broken a tray since. The c channel will sometimes bend in a crash, but the tray hasn't broken. We simply straighten the c channel out and put it back.

I will try to organise pics for you guys

cheers
Glenn
