avs and normal mode i know avs is head holding mode at least thats what i understand it to be and that is what most piliots use er at least iv never heard of ne one useing normal true gain i was wondering y is that or what reason would u need a normal ture gain instead of an avs ture gain. if theres no reason then y even make the gyro have a normal y not just make them with just avs?

Some gyro that are appearing on the market are only AVCS. I think the solid G was only AVCS. The reason for rate mode I believe is for the scale flyers. When you fly in rate mode, the tail tends to follow the heli (weathervane effect) in a turn and so forth, so it appears more scale-like. I don't know any other reason for it.

It doesn't matter whether you use end points, or a gyro screen, the gyro doesn't know the difference, all that deals with is how its displayed to the user. Gyro screens, especially futaba, are more user friendly than end points.

In the end the gyro doesn't know or care how you set it.

If you use your gear channel (ch.5) for your gain, then the endpoints are used for gain. Flip up the switch for HH gain and down for rate gain. The rudder channel (ch.4) endpoints is for your piro rate.

If you use the gyro sens menu, then you would use that menu for you gain, and the endpoint for ch.4 are still for piro rate.

I personally like to use the gear channel, but like barracuda said, either way is correct.
