Hi all

In relation to engien tuning

Higher air temp leaner
Lower air temp richer
Higher atmospheric pressure richer
lower atmospheric pressure leaner
Higher humidity leaner
lower humidity richer
higher altitude leaner
lower altitude richer

Regards Bo

Nope, not wrong, just not worded properly.

I guess the wording should be "density" instead of amount. Both warm and cold have the same amount of oxygen. If you mean volumn of air, then cold will have more oxygen due to the density of the molecules being closer together. So warm days and cold days at sea level have the same amount of oxygen, just not as "dense".

Now with altitude, atmospheric pressure comes more into play, because there is a significant drop in the pressure

As altitude increases, the atmospheric pressure decreases, thinning the air so that less oxygen is available. For example, compared with the air at sea level, the air in Denver (about 5,300 feet above sea level) contains 20% less available oxygen; the air in Aspen, Colorado (about 8,000 feet above sea level), about 25% less oxygen; and the air near the top of Mount Everest (more than 29,000 feet above sea level), about 66% less oxygen.

So monkeynuts....there is less usable oxygen with altitude......

Anyhow I'm going to stop this discussion and hopefully jgoodsell can get his engine running on par.....

The percentage (or fraction) of the molecules that are O2 molecules stays the same.
Absolutely correct but I don't think he is going to get it because he is on a mission. Unfortunately he will confuse other people with his ignorance.

yes Bo, higher temperature = less density, you lean the mixture out;
lower temperature = higher density you richen the mixture. What ever affects the density, temperature or pressure the effect is the same.

After running my G26 Hanson Pro at 11,440 RPM for a couple gallons I talked with AL at Hanson just last week and he said the engine would be fine in the 12-13K range as long as you don't overheat them and they don't cause excess vibration. I upped mine to 12,200 this weekend and flew 3 tanks with it and liked it's performance much better. I did richen a tad to make sure I didn't overheat it but it seemed unnecessary from the temps i took after flying. I will probably try 12,500 too, but not much more than that.

I made no corrections for Air Temperature, Barometric Pressure, Relative Humidity, Actual or calculated relative elevation, Dew point, or Oxygen saturation... But I did have fun!!!!

I don`t know anything about Texas, but perhaps the difference
in air temp, winter/summer is bigger up in Canada where jgoodsell lives.

Don`t misunderstand me I like your kind of humor,
it lighten things up, when it gets a little...sort of tense.

Well anyway I`m glad that jgoodsell has solved most of his problem.
