Absolutely, a technical explanation is due.

Because IF it is looking for a certain heading, then you should be able to turn the tail and make the "creep" stop at the heading it is looking for.

But, this does not make sense either, because what "heading" is it looking for when first turned on? Should it be looking for a "heading" when it is first turned on?

Just because "everyone's is doing it , doesn't make it right, that is not a technical answer. I call BS until a technical answer is laid out in terms from the manual, with a real answer also, not well this is just the way it is, BS.

Why Hover a Yak, when a Heli does it better?

I haven't owned any HH gyros that do that either, but I haven't owned a CY gyro either. I know the crappy eflite G110 does this as well. It's *supposed* to be an HH gyro.

You can call BS all you want, but the fact of the matter is you've just had a bunch of people who own them and fly them fine say that they all do this. The proof is in the pudding.

I don't think anyone besides those who programmed the thing will be able to answer why it behaves the way it does. Unless there is actually written documentation out there on it.

Really? I have never had a heading hold gyro 'creep' to either side. I do not own a CY but would like a technical explanation if they are somehow different
LOL, until you ave run a CY gyro you wont understand. There is no technical explenation. It just is. When it is on the bench not in flight or even on even a slight bump will make it creep, even a slight breeze. I assure you they DO NOT do this in flight. I can give no better explenation because there isnt one. If you want better than that, I suggest you either send CY enterprises an email or call them.
Because IF it is looking for a certain heading, then you should be able to turn the tail and make the "creep" stop at the heading it is looking for.
It will continue to creep until there is a load on the tail for the blades to hold against.

You can call BS all you want. It does not change the fact that every CY gyro behaves this way. There is no explenation in the manual either. It is searching for a load that is not there until you spool up.

Hope this helps you non-CY users.

PS you can do a search on this. You will find many posts since the solid-g first came out with all of this discussed in detail.

Same as other gyros. Lower the ATV for the rudder channel. In my experience with the solid-g an ATV of 100 is blazing fast. IIRC I am running 85-90 on my ships.

I have MiniG's in my 700N and 250. I just powered them up and both of them were creeping very slowly. I almost posted to soon.

HH gyro will creep because it is always trying to correct. Remember that gyro is sensitive and can detect very very small movements. something on the order of .00001 deg.

Rotation of the earth .. Vibration from a truck passing on the highway .. All things that the gyro part of the circuit can sense.

Its also in whats called a feedback circuit and is always looking to zero the input. And being in HH mode it remembers the 'zero' point. A gyro in rate mode is always 'resetting' that zero or center point. So it never gets far from the input. So you never see it try for a large correction.

Hope that makes sense .. Posting before coffee ..
