I have a Logo 14 that I have set up for Barless but it is real unstable. My question is anyone else using a flybarless setup and are you having the same experience. The second part is can you use the AP2000i with the 3 axis gyro for flybarless.

I'm using a Logo 10 with the flybarless head and a Helicommand Rigid for stabilisation and find it very smooth. It took a little while to get it dialled in so it flies nicely, but I would never go back now

I'm in the process of building a flybarless Logo 710 (stretched from 600) which also sports a Helicommand Rigid.

I've heard it's possible to use the AP2000i and extra gyros but it's too many extra bits for my liking - the HC Rigid is a very small unit that works well.

Nope that's a homemade mount

http://runryder.com/helicopter/t428450p1/

The only Askman bits on there are the undercarriage which were hacked from an old underslung mount

When you say you're worried about the 2 systems fighting each other, what do you mean? If you're using the V-Bar then I'm pretty sure you shouldn't use any other stabilisation on the helicopter ... I would be grateful if someone can confirm that though! Are you saying you want to try using another stabilisation system to make the heli fly better?

Cheers,

David

I would recommend just using the HC rigid and selling the APi and V-bar. In the end you will have a better system and less parts to go bad.

I have a Logo 600 with V-Bar, and I also happened to have an AP2000i lying around that came off another machine. Naturally, I wondered whether you could connect them together and get an IR-stabilised flybarless system. So I asked Spartan whether they thought it would work:

To Spartan RC:
I have a flybarless Logo 600, running the Mikado V-Bar electronics. I also have one of your AP2000i flight stabilisers, which I’d like to add to the heli in order to get IR stabilisation for AP work (I also have an FMA IR sensor unit). The Logo is flying well with the V-Bar unit, so I’d prefer to simply add the AP2000i to the existing set-up; I’m just not sure whether to add the AP2000i between the receiver and the V-Bar control unit, or between the V-Bar unit and the servos. I’d guess that the AP2000i should go between the receiver and the V-Bar unit? This way the system would emulate an IR-stabilised flybar heli.

I’d appreciate your advice on the best way to do this.

Here's their reply:

It would have to go before the V-Bar but I am not sure if the two systems together can offer a stable platform as Vbar works a little different than the flybar. It is HH effectively while the flybar is proportional mix (rate).

Be cautious as you increase the gain of the AP-2000i and if you see it becoming unstable switch of the AP-2000i stabilization quickly.

That was over a year ago, and I still haven't summoned up the courage to try it!

My advice is sell the V-Bar and AP2000i and get a HeliCommand Rigid. Fewer boxes, wires, and general setup problems. I've just bought a HC Rigid, I'm hoping to swap out my V-Bar next week and try it out.

On second thoughts, it might be best to get the HC Rigid and make sure it works for you before you sell the V-Bar !

Hope this helps.
