Hello all,

I would like to know what is the sweet spot in terms of Nitro engine rpm and gear ratio / heli design.

We are building our first own helicopter, and we plan to use 800 to 850 blades and engines between 90 tp 100 size nitro.

After a lot of calculations we find more or less the correct gear ratio,...we plan ti use governor locked at about 1350 RPM.

What i would like to ask is at what engine speed shoud be a heli at hovering? It should be at the RPM at wich the power is maxium or it should at what percentage of the maxium?

Keep in mind that these machine will be used for aerial photography and video, and also that we whant a reliable operation, not 3D.

I just don´t know if the calculations are made to keep trhe engine at maxium HP at a determinated head speed or if we let a margin. What should be the margin.

What is the margin in modern designs?

Looking for some inputs!

Tank you all!

Regards
