Perhaps, OCB, you should offer these 'unlawfully treated' individuals a place to sleep and a bit to eat when they are released since you seem to love them so much.
Now, there is a good idea.

You didn't outright say it but you sure as hell implied it by saying that they should be released until found guilty. Individuals accused of violent crimes are held in jail until they are put on trial to protect society.
I didn't imply anything of the sort, you read what you wanted to into it.

You are just being ignorant and reactionary. Good luck with that.

"I addressed it, you obviously didn't like it."

No you did not address the issue of KSM. Not at all, you diverted to a suggestion that others had nothing to do with 911 (as if that is relevant to KSM or the appropriateness of their detention).

If they are legally convicted then they should be imprisoned.
Second post I made in the thread.

Is a conviction by military tribunal legal in your world view?

How many of the people held at Gitmo or in Afghanistan targeted US citizens?
They targeted our soldiers didn't they? Last time I checked most of our soldiers are citizens.

I said it before send them back to their homeland. You don't have to land the plane to drop them off. I'll be nice here and offer them a parachute. Throw the chute out the door first and then throw them out.

Problem solved.

If we continue to play these games with these killers then just shoot them on the battlefield and be done with it.

With or without the military commissions act?
With or without coerced testimony through the use of torture?

What you suggest is simply revenge and nothing to do with justice.

I see, Ozark wants to apply lawer stuff to KSM. Might as well release him outright to Pakistan so he can pick up where he left off before his capture.

To answer your questions, I do not know about the military commissions act to which you refer.

Coerced testimony, no problem. One man's interrogation is another man's torture.

So that we all know, Ozark feels that Khaled Sheik Mohammed should be released. He also feels that the murder of 3000 Americans should be overlooked if he was waterboarded. This is why the interogation tapes were destroyed. Regardless of what they show, some Ozark type will find some reason for some court to find that the interrogation voids the prosecution.

American civil justice and war are two very different things. But not to some.

Justice is indeed a form of revenge by society against an individual.

Ozark does not care about the people who had to jump from the WTC as shown on youtube (search jump from WTC - I will not post the link here)

He is more concerned about having a wet towel on Khaled Sheik Mohammed's face, and that it might have been uncomfortable.

See Alqueda KSM and OBL don't care a whit about human rights. Which is why they are not entitled to any BY LAW.

So I ask you Ozark, assuming KSM was tortured, should he be prosecuted or released? Or should he be thrown out of the back of a C-130 over the Atlantic? Revenge? Sure, I'll take that assignment.

Ozark, I am all grown up.

Answer the question. Should he or should he not be released, assuming we agree he was indeed tortured.

No problem, let them go. There are other means that WILL provide the justice they deserve. Lets say a percentage are wrongly accused. Maybe they were in the wrong place at the wrong time?

Almost 3000 American Citizens were in the wrong place at the wrong time on 911. They weren't fortunate enough to be alive today to be in this debate.

What if they are innocent?

So punishing possibly innocent people is somehow supposed to make up for that?

I didn't imply anything of the sort, you read what you wanted to into it.
Since you refuse to outright say anything other than release them I'll read into it as much as I want.

OCB, you need to go take a walk in downtown Baghdad and see how much your kind is loved.
You are just being ignorant and reactionary. Good luck with that.
What's so wrong with my suggestion to you? You seem to think they are safe enough to be released into the public but you don't think they are safe enough to eat your food and sleep in your house?
What if they are innocent?
You really believe they are innocent?

You truly believe that?

If they were innocent they would not have been caught on the battlefield...

Show me where I said that please. I sure thought I was saying that they should be given fair trials....
What's so wrong with my suggestion to you?
Because its stupid.

RonHill posted an article awhile back that estimated the number of detainees at 18,000 individuals being held.

You believe that every single one of them is guilty?
You truly believe that?

This debate on Gitmo with Ozark has been going on for 5 or 6 months now.

Its a waste of time with this guy. He simply repeats the same old message. All the time.

He simply needs a one way ticket to Iran where he can get along.

You mean 18,000 held in Afghanistan? At the prison base Obama does not plan to close?

I see you choose not to answer the question, so I will ask it again.

If KSM was tortured, is it your choice to release him? Or not? If not, how will you put him on trial?
