I have a redline .53 in my trex 600NSP, it has the new carb. I have heard to set needle between 2-3/4 to 3 turns from closed. I have been tunning mine up for a few weeks now. I have it set up pretty nice. HOWEVER my needle is at excatly 2 turns. The back plate is 180F after a flight, the cooling fins are about 190F. I am wondering if this is ok. I just put new bearings in it, (front and back). Also I am now running a curtis MP5 SB pipe. I used to have a thunder tiger High Flo (the black one). Thanks,

Dont know where you have been hearing that but the three turns is for break-in. The majority after break-in are running right around 2 turns like you have it. If it runs good where its at leave it. It sounds like you have it just right. Dont judge your tuning by someone elses needle setting, no 2 engines will tune exactly alike.

FYI I am at 2 turns on the high and just under flush on the low needles. Its been set up this way for over a year now and has been rock solid. GREAT engine from TT IMHO.
